Selection and study of mutants ofDekkera intermediaandCandida wickerhamiiderepressed for β-glucosidase production [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1985
Mutants of Candida wickerhamii and Dekkera intermedia, derepressed for β-glucosidase biosynthesis, were isolated. These mutants were also shown to hyperproduce this enzyme. In anaerobic culture, the C. wickerhamii mutant still hyperproduced β-glucosidase and was derepressed. Glucose-cellobiose anaerobic fermentation by this strain was thus improved. On

Linking Plant Metabolomics with Fungal Functional Dynamics Reveals a Noncanonical S‐R‐C Adaptive Trajectory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using field‐based holo‐omics, we demonstrate that developmental shifts in sorghum leaf metabolomes drive a noncanonical fungal succession from stress tolerators (S) through ruderals (R) to competitors (C). Antifungal metabolites in young leaves select for S strategists with expanded genomes, transient maltose pulses during flowering favor fast‐growing ...

Spatial separation of the cyanogenic β-glucosidase ZfBGD2 and cyanogenic glucosides in the haemolymph of Zygaena larvae facilitates cyanide release [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2017
Low molecular weight compounds are typically used by insects and plants for defence against predators. They are often stored as inactive β-glucosides and kept separate from activating β-glucosidases.

Analysis of the Developmental Regulation of the Cyanogenic Compounds in Seedlings of Two Lines of \u3cem\u3eLinum usitatissimum\u3c/em\u3e L. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The developmental profiles and tissue distribution of the four cyanogenic compounds in seedlings of two developmentally contrasting inbred lines of flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) were examined using HPLC.

Fermented Citrus as a Functional Food Matrix: Evaluating Probiotic, Prebiotic, and Postbiotic Potential

open access: yesAgriFood: Journal of Agricultural Products for Food, EarlyView.
Fermented citrus transforms bioactive compounds into metabolites with probiotic and prebiotic properties, enhancing gut health, immunity, and metabolic balance. This review highlights fermentation's role in developing sustainable, health‐promoting functional foods while addressing challenges in process optimization, sensory quality, and commercial ...

Characterization of a thermostable β-glucosidase from Aspergillus fumigatus Z5, and its functional expression in Pichia pastoris X33

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2012
Background Recently, the increased demand of energy has strongly stimulated the research on the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into reducing sugars for the subsequent production, and β-glucosidases have been the focus because of their important ...

Microbial β-Glucosidase: sources, production and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cellulose is the most abundant biopolymer in biosphere and the major constituent of plant biomass. Cellulose polymer is made up of β-glucose units linked by β-glucosidic bonds. Cellulase is an enzymatic system that catalyzes the hydrolysis of cellulose

Diagnostic Odyssey of Atypical Long‐Chain 3‐Hydroxyacyl‐CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (LCHADD) Explained by Three Allelic Products From Two Pathogenic Variants

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Long‐chain 3‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (LCHADD) is an autosomal recessive mitochondrial defect of long‐chain fatty acid β‐oxidation, caused by biallelic pathogenic variants in HADHA or HADHB. We report a 22‐year‐old male with an atypically mild presentation of LCHADD who was referred to the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN ...

β-Glucosidase Activity of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum: A Key Player in Food Fermentation and Human Health

open access: yesFoods
β-glucosidases are a relevant class of enzymes in the food industry due to their role in hydrolyzing different types of glycosidic bonds. This activity allows for formation of volatile compounds and release of bioactive aglycone compounds. In addition to
