Sequencing of folding events in Go-like proteins

open access: yes, 2000
We have studied folding mechanisms of three small globular proteins: crambin (CRN), chymotrypsin inhibitor 2 (CI2) and the fyn Src Homology 3 domain (SH3) which are modelled by a Go-like Hamiltonian with the Lennard-Jones interactions.

Mutual Exclusion Analysis Shows that DUSP9 Negatively Regulates PD‐L1 Expression and Acts as a Target to Enhance Anti‐PD‐1 Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mutually exclusive screening system is established to identify negative regulators of highly plastic genes. Dual specificity phosphatase (DUSP9) is a novel negative regulatory molecule of PD‐L1 by dephosphorylating STAT3, and acts as a target molecule in combination with PD‐1 antibody for tumor immunotherapy and a new clinical biomarker for ...

Genetic predisposition to porto‐sinusoidal vascular disorder: A functional genomic‐based, multigenerational family study

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
A deleterious variant of FCHSD1 results in mTOR pathway overactivation and may cause porto‐sinusoidal vascular disorder (PSVD). The pedigree of the family demonstrated an autosomal dominant disease with variable expressivity. Whole‐genome sequencing and Sanger sequencing both validated the existence of the FCHSD1 variant and the heterozygosity of c ...

Structure and Biological Functions of β-Hairpin Antimicrobial Peptides

open access: yesActa Naturae, 2015
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are evolutionarily ancient factors of the innate immune system that serve as a crucial first line of defense for humans, animals, and plants against infection. This review focuses on the structural organization, biosynthesis,

IGF‐1 Deficiency Serves as an Integrated Biomarker Pathogenic Driver and Predictor in Poor Ovarian Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
IGF‐1 deficiency underlies poor ovarian response (POR), as reduced levels in follicular fluid and granulosa cells impair antral follicle formation and compromise reproductive outcomes. Including IGF‐1 as a biomarker significantly enhances the accuracy of models predicting both PORrisk and pregnancy success.

AIF1+CSF1R+ MSCs, induced by TNF‐α, act to generate an inflammatory microenvironment and promote hepatocarcinogenesis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Mesenchymal stem cells subset, educated by TNF‐α, are involved to generate inflammatory microenvironment and promote hepatocarcinogenesis Abstract Background and Aims Increasing evidence suggests that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) home to injured local tissues and the tumor microenvironment in the liver.

Influence of Hydrodynamic Interactions on Mechanical Unfolding of Proteins

open access: yes, 2007
We incorporate hydrodynamic interactions in a structure-based model of ubiquitin and demonstrate that the hydrodynamic coupling may reduce the peak force when stretching the protein at constant speed, especially at larger speeds.

A20 Facilitates Oxaliplatin Sensitivity in Colorectal Cancer Through Monoubiquitylation of IKK‐β

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the expression of A20, a ubiquitin‐editing enzyme, is positively correlated with oxaliplatin sensitivity in colorectal cancer (CRC). Mechanistically, A20 enhances oxaliplatin sensitivity by inhibiting NF‐κB nuclear translocation through monoubiquitination of IKK‐β.

Gain-of-sensitivity mutations in a Trim5-resistant primary isolate of pathogenic SIV identify two independent conserved determinants of Trim5α specificity.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2013
Retroviral capsid recognition by Trim5 blocks productive infection. Rhesus macaques harbor three functionally distinct Trim5 alleles: Trim5α(Q) , Trim5α(TFP) and Trim5(CypA) .

Salvage enzymes in nucleotide biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Balanced pools of deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs), the building blocks of DNA, and ribonucleoside triphosphates (NTPs), the precursors of RNA, are crucial for a controlled cell proliferation.
