Bending and Base-Stacking Interactions in Double-Stranded Semiflexible Polymer

open access: yes, 1998
Simple expressions for the bending and the base-stacking energy of double-stranded semiflexible biopolymers (such as DNA and actin) are derived. The distribution of the folding angle between the two strands is obtained by solving a Schr\"{o}dinger ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Bis(4-methoxybenzylammonium) tetrabromidocadmate(II)

open access: yesIUCrData, 2018
The asymmetric unit of the organic–inorganic hybrid salt, (C8H12NO)2[CdBr4], consists of two 4-methoxybenzylammonium cations and one [CdBr4]2− anion. The cations and anions are connected by a complex series of N—H...Br and C—H...Br hydrogen bonds. No π–π

Mechanism of magnetism in stacked nanographite: Theoretical study

open access: yes, 2000
Nanographite systems, where graphene sheets of the orders of the nanometer size are stacked, show novel magnetic properties, such as, spin-glass like behaviors and the change of ESR line widths in the course of gas adsorptions.

Flexibility and Dynamicity Enhances and Controls Supramolecular Self‐Assembly of Zinc(II) Metallogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc(II) coordination complexes with tunable aryloxy‐imine ligands exhibit controllable supramolecular self‐assembly into hierarchical fibrous structures. Coordination‐driven stacking, not π–π interactions, enables gelation, dynamic assembly/disassembly, and enhanced nanomechanical properties.

Crystal structures of 2-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenyl)-8-ethoxy-3-nitro-2H-thiochromene and 2-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenyl)-7-methoxy-3-nitro-2H-thiochromene

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2019
Two thiochromene compounds containing Br and F atoms, namely 2-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenyl)-8-ethoxy-3-nitro-2H-thiochromene (C17H13BrFNO3S, A) and 2-(2-bromo-5-fluorophenyl)-7-methoxy-3-nitro-2H-thiochromene (C16H11BrFNO3S, B), were prepared via the ...
