Phase-field simulations of intergranular stress corrosion cracking in Fe-Cr-Ni alloy incorporating σ phase precipitation

open access: yesMaterials & Design
σ phase is a common precipitate in Fe-Cr-Ni alloy, which may significantly influence intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC). This influence stems primarily from the compositional segregation and elastic mismatch induced by σ phase precipitation,

Alternative σ Factors Regulate Overlapping as Well as Distinct Stress Response and Metabolic Functions in Listeria monocytogenes under Stationary Phase Stress Condition

open access: yesPathogens, 2021
Listeria monocytogenes can regulate and fine-tune gene expression, to adapt to diverse stress conditions encountered during foodborne transmission.

Phase Transitions in Phase Retrieval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Consider a scenario in which an unknown signal is transformed by a known linear operator, and then the pointwise absolute value of the unknown output function is reported.

Thermal Phase Mixing During First Order Phase Transitions

open access: yes, 1994
The dynamics of first order phase transitions are studied in the context of (3+1)-dimensional scalar field theories. Particular attention is paid to the question of quantifying the strength of the transition, and how `weak' and `strong' transitions have ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Effect of Mn on σ Phase and Toughness of 22%Cr Duplex Stainless Steel by Aging Treatment at 700℃

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2017
The effect of different Mn contents on the σ phase and toughness of 22%Cr (mass fraction, the same below) low-nickel DSS by means of OM, XRD, SEM, TEM, precipitation kinetics and Charpy impact tests was studied.

Improved creep resistance of 20Cr25NiNb heat resistant steels through grain boundary intermetallic precipitation strengthening

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
The creep performance of 20Cr25NiNb austenitic steel through the addition of W, Mo, and B elements was investigated. W and Mo enhanced high temperature creep resistance primarily through solid solution strengthening σss and precipitation strengthening σp

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

In-situ study of σ phase evolution in 25Cr-7Ni duplex stainless steel (DSS): Unrevealing critical insight

open access: yesMaterials & Design
The current understanding of the formation mechanism and kinetics of the σ phase in DSS remains ambiguous. This study investigates the in-situ evolution of the σ phase in DSS through a multi-faceted approach.
