Highlights In the first trimester, the plasma mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was higher in women who developed gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) than in women who did not develop GDM during their pregnancy. The increased levels of plasma mtDNA were independent of age and fasting plasma glucose levels in the first trimester.

Application of Industrial Standard Methods for Detection of Horse- and Donkey-Derived Ingredients for Detecting Mule Meat [PDF]
Both horse- and donkey-derived ingredients have been detected in mule meat by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) as described in China’s industry standards for detection of horse (SN/T 3730.5-2013) and donkey (SN/T 3730.4-2013) ingredients in food

Research Progress on Species Identification of Sarcosaprophagous Flies [PDF]
Estimation of postmortem interval (PMI) has always been one of the difficult problems for forensic scientists. It is especially hard to estimate the PMI of highly decomposed corpses in the wild or in secluded houses with conventional methods.

Population genetic structure and phylogentic analysis for Morone americana in Delaware Bay of United States [PDF]

ABSTRACT Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a predominant cause of low back pain, significantly impacting quality of life. Mitochondrial fitness is essential in the progression of IDD, as it regulates cellular senescence and pyroptosis. This study investigates the role of mitochondrial caseinolytic protease P (ClpP) in alleviating senescence and
