What is good drinking water? 41 Years of risk perception on water quality in the vicinity of the Nuclear Research Centre Karlsruhe, 1956–1997

open access: yesRisk, Hazards &Crisis in Public Policy, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 343-365, December 2023., 2023
Abstract This article traces the historical evolution of risk perception around the Nuclear Research Centre Karlsruhe, Germany, from 1956 to 1997. It does so by targeting the evolution of water‐related risks. Federal hopes in the postwar era that the Nuclear Research Centre would bring progress and prosperity clashed with local values and local ...

Groundwater mapping and locally engaged water governance in a small island terrain: Case study of Karainagar island, Northern Sri Lanka

open access: yesWorld Water Policy, Volume 9, Issue 3, Page 456-480, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Groundwater is a vital resource under threat in island communities. Karainagar, a 22 km2 island, is one of seven islands off the coast of Jaffna in Northern Sri Lanka, with its population of just about 11,000 persons, experiences seasonal water shortage, and salinity in groundwater as twin threats impacting on their lives.

Relative contributions of fasting and postprandial glucose increments, glycemic variability, and non‐glycemic factors to HbA1c in individuals with type 1 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 15, Issue 6, Page 465-473, June 2023., 2023
Highlights Evidence for contribution of basal and postprandial glucose increments and glycemic variability to glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) among adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) is limited. In this study, after analyzing a total of 169 550 sensor‐derived data in 2409 meals recorded from 102 T1D adults, we found that basal hyperglycemia (BHG) was four ...

Association of skin autofluorescence with low bone density/osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures in type 2 diabetes mellitus

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 14, Issue 9, Page 571-585, September 2022., 2022
Highlights The association between skin autofluorescence advanced glycation end products (SAF‐AGEage) and low bone density/osteoporosis or major osteoporotic fractures was noteworthy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). SAF‐AGEs were positively associated with the level of serum N‐terminal propeptide of type I procollagen (s‐PINP) and ...

Gender differences in disorders comorbid with posttraumatic stress disorder among U.S. Sailors and Marines

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 988-998, June 2022., 2022
Abstract Psychological comorbidity, the co‐occurrence of mental health disorders, is more often the rule than the exception among individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research shows that prevalence estimates for specific psychological disorders differ by gender; however, little is known about whether these patterns persist in the ...

Disentangling the Symptom‐Level Nuances in Comorbid Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Problematic Alcohol Use in Northern Irish Military Veterans: A Network Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, Volume 35, Issue 1, Page 32-41, February 2022., 2022
Abstract Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol use are highly prevalent among military veteran populations. Several theories have been proposed to account for the comorbidity between PTSD and problematic alcohol use, but research examining the symptom‐level associations between the two is limited.

open access: yesGongye shui chuli, 2000

open access: yesGongye shui chuli, 2002
