Isomeric 0− halo-states in 12Be and 11Li

open access: yes, 2008
We predict the existence of an isomeric 0−-state in 12Be at an excitation energy of about 2.5 MeV, and a 0−-resonance in 11Li with both energy and width of about 1 MeV corresponding to two-neutron emission.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Mass spectrum of the $$\Omega \bar{\Omega }$$ Ω Ω ¯ states

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In this study, we investigate the mass spectrum of the $$\Omega \bar{\Omega }$$ Ω Ω ¯ states with quantum numbers $$J^{PC}=0^{-+}$$ J PC = 0 - + , $$1^{--}$$ 1 - - , $$0^{++}$$ 0 + + , and $$1^{++}$$ 1 + + within the framework of QCD sum rules. Employing

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Measurement of the CKM angle γ in B ± → DK *(892) ± decays

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Measurements of CP observables and the CKM angle γ are performed in B ± → DK *(892) ± decays, where D represents a superposition of D 0 and D ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{D}}^0 $$ states, using the LHCb dataset collected during Run 1 (2011–2012) and Run 2 (2015 ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Observation of B(0) --> D0pi(0) and B(0) -->D(*0)pi(0).

open access: yes, 2002
We have studied the color-suppressed hadronic decays of neutral B mesons into the final states D*0pi(0). Using 9.67 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we observe the decays B( 0) --> D0pi(0) and B( 0) -->D(*0)pi(0) with the branching ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
