Novel Synthesis of a 2H-1,2-Benzothiazine -1,1-Dioxide Derivative

Abstract We report a novel synthesis of 4-chloro-2-cyclohexyl-6,7-dimethoxy-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-1,1-dioxide 6 from 3,4-dimethoxychalcone 1. Chlorosulfonation of 1 followed by amination, then epoxidation under basic conditions with immediate elimination of the benzoyl group and electrophilic chlorination resulted in 6. A mechanism is suggested.

Synthesis of 1,2-Benzothiazine via Nickel-Catalyzed Electrochemical Intramolecular Amination

Organic Letters
Constructing a C-N bond by merging electrochemistry and nickel catalysis is considered a powerful strategy. Herein, we investigate highly efficient intramolecular amination at room temperature with excellent functional group tolerance. Mechanistic studies suggest that the rapid ligand exchange may lead to the NiI/NiIII catalytic cycle.

Abstract The novel chelates ML2 (M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) were obtained by the interaction of 3-benzoyl-4-hydroxy-1,2-benzothiazine-4(3H)-on-1,1-dioxide and 2-methyl-3-benzoyl-4-hydroxy-1,2-benzo-thiazine-4(3H)-on-1,1-dioxide with elemental metals (direct electrochemical synthesis) or their acetates (chemical synthesis) in methanol.

Twenty-three new 7-halo-4-hydroxy-2H(or alkyl)-N-(3-aralkyl-2-thio- 1-hydantoinyl)-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxamide 1,1-dioxide derivatives were synthesized through the condensation of 7-halo-4-hydroxy-2H(or alkyl)-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester 1,1-dioxides with 1-amino-2-thio-3-aralkyl-imidazolidine-4-one.
