A new procedure for separation and preconcentration of trace amounts of Cu(II), Ni(II), Fe(III), Zn(II), Cr(III), Cd(II), and Pb(II) in fish samples was proposed. The procedure is based on the adsorption of these metal ions on the column of Amberlite XAD‐7 as congo red complexes prior to their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS)

Sensing Heavy Metals Using Mesoporous‐Based Optical Chemical Sensors
Heavy metal pollution is one of the more serious environmental problems; therefore, there is a constant demand for the development of new analytical tools for its monitoring. An optical chemical sensor represents a good alternative to classical instrumental methods. The mesoporous materials used in optical chemical sensors’ fabrications have properties

This work approaches the development of a procedure for separation and determination of five trace metals (Co, Cd, Pb, Ni, and Cu) from petroleum produced formation water. This procedure uses a styrene divinyl‐benzene polymeric resin modified with 4‐(5′‐bromo‐2′‐tiazolilazo) orcinol, and the determination was performed by inductively coupled plasma ...

Complex formation in a liquid-liquid extraction-chromogenic system for vanadium(IV)
The azo dye 4-(2-thiazolylazo)orcinol (TAO) and the cationic ion-pair reagent 2,3,5-triphenyl-2H-tetrazolium chloride (TTC) were examined as constituents of a water-chloroform extraction-chromogenic system for vanadium(IV).

Competitive Spectrophotometric Study of Copper, Zinc and Cadmium With 18C6 Using TAR as a Colorimetric Complexing Agent in Methanol [PDF]
A Competitive spectrophotometric method has been used for the study of complexation between Cu2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+ (M) and 18-crown-6(18C6, B) in methanol using 4-(2-thiazolylazo) resorcinol (TAR, HL) as the colorimetric complexant.

Emission‐based sensing of cobalt (II) and vitamin B12 via a bis‐indole derivative
In this study, a newly synthesized bis‐indole derivative has been successfully used in the analysis of both ionic cobalt and vitamin B12. The fluorescent bis‐indole ligand surrounds cobalt ions and acts similarly to the corrin ring in the structure of vitamin B12 in nature.

The reagent 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphtol (TAN) has been extensively used in solid-phase extraction without a critical evaluation of the adsorption process. In this work, the adsorption of TAN onto XAD-7 and silica gel has been investigated and the experimental equilibrium data were fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich models ...

Relationship of Thermostability and Binding Affinity in Metal‐binding WW‐Domain Minireceptors
Hold on tight. Three metal‐binding WW domains with significantly different thermal stabilities, were designed to investigate the relationship between thermostability and metal binding affinity. We show that the metal‐binding affinities for Ni(II), Zn(II) and Cu(II) correlate with the thermostabilities of the WW domains and attribute this to enhanced ...
