Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

Quelles techniques pour végétaliser des enrochements de berges de cours d’eau ? [PDF]

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2015
Les enrochements de berge de rivière constituent un pis-aller sur le plan environnemental et le génie végétal lui est préférable. Toutefois, lorsque les contraintes imposent d’avoir recours à des enrochements, il est préférable de les végétaliser pour ...

On Crystal Mosaicity in Single Crystal Ni-Based Superalloys

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
In the present work, we investigate the evolution of mosaicity during seeded Bridgman processing of technical Ni-based single crystal superalloys (SXs).

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Large-Scale Histological Image Dataset with Metadata for Colorectal Cancer Microenvironment

open access: yesScientific Data
The pronounced heterogeneity of the tumor microenvironment (TME) in colorectal cancer (CRC) presents major obstacles in accurately predicting patient outcomes and tailoring treatment responses.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Telecom O-Band Quantum Dots Fabricated by Droplet Etching

open access: yesCrystals
We present a novel growth technique for fabricating low-density InAs/GaAs quantum dots that emit in the telecom O-band. This method combines local droplet etching on GaAs surfaces using gallium with Stranski–Krastanov growth initiated by InAs deposition.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
