Telecom O-Band Quantum Dots Fabricated by Droplet Etching

open access: yesCrystals
We present a novel growth technique for fabricating low-density InAs/GaAs quantum dots that emit in the telecom O-band. This method combines local droplet etching on GaAs surfaces using gallium with Stranski–Krastanov growth initiated by InAs deposition.

Serum peptidome patterns of hepatocellular carcinoma based on magnetic bead separation and mass spectrometry analysis

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, 2014
Background/Aims: The only hope for a cure from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) rests on early diagnosis. The present study aims to determine serum peptidome patterns for early diagnosis of HCC.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Making Participation Tangible: A Methodological Reflection on the Potentials and Limitations of Immersive Virtual Reality, Electrodermal Activity Measurement, and Qualitative Inquiry in the Analysis of Urban Fear Spaces

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
The subjective perception of safety in public space is a crucial indicator of urban participation, shaping how people experience and navigate their surroundings.

Design and Synthesis of New 1,3,5‐Trisubstituted Triazines for the Treatment of Cancer and Inflammation

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2018
Low‐molecular‐weight synthetic molecules 1 with the general 2‐(fluorophenylamino)‐4,6‐disubstituted 1,3,5‐triazine structure and showing anti‐inflammatory and anticancer activities were explored.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
