16S rRNA Sequence Diversity in Mycobacterium celatum Strains Caused by Presence of Two Different Copies of 16S rRNA Gene [PDF]
ABSTRACT Direct sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene (16S rDNA) of Mycobacterium celatum isolates showed ambiguities, suggesting heterogeneity. Cloned 16S rDNA yielded two copies of the gene, which differed by insertion of a thymine at position 214 and by additional mismatches.

Deep learning for predicting 16S rRNA gene copy number
Culture-independent 16S rRNA gene metabarcoding is a commonly used method for microbiome profiling. To achieve more quantitative cell fraction estimates, it is important to account for the 16S rRNA gene copy number (hereafter 16S GCN) of different ...

In this study, the picocyanobacterial species composition of Lake Miyagase was examined by analyzing the 16S rRNA gene in a clone library and by amplicon sequencing using a benchtop next-generation sequencer. Five separate samples were analyzed from different days over a ten-month period. In the picocyanobacterial lineage, 9 and 12 OTUs were identified

Microbubble‐Controlled Delivery of Biofilm‐Targeting Nanoparticles to Treat MRSA Infection
Here, an effective strategy using microbubble (MB)‐controlled delivery of biofilm‐targeting nanoparticles (BTNs) for removal and therapy of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) biofilm infections is introduced. In vivo delivery of MB with BTN is demonstrated to silence key bacterial genes involved in biofilm formation (icaA), bacterial ...

IntroductionBuruli ulcer (BU) caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans is effectively treated with rifampicin and streptomycin for 8 weeks but some lesions take several months to heal. We have shown previously that some slowly healing lesions contain mycolactone

Colon‐Targeted Natural Polysaccharide‐Berberine Armored Hydrogel for the Treatment of Colitis
In this research, a novel hydrogel system targeting the colon is developed, incorporating Rhubarb polysaccharides and berberine‐loaded dendrimer. This hydrogel, forms through intermolecular hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, accumulates in colonic tissues, effectively alleviating pathological immune hyperactivation while modulating gut ...

This study investigates a synergistic effect between 3D‐printed surface features and mechanical micro‐strain in enhancing the osteogenic, angiogenic, and myogenic responses of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). Load‐induced mechanotransduction, facilitated by the implant's architectural design, significantly amplifies hMSC differentiation.

Harnessing the intragenomic variability of rRNA operons to improve differentiation of Vibrio species
Although the 16S rRNA gene is frequently used as a phylogenetic marker in analysis of environmental DNA, this marker often fails to distinguish closely related species, including those in the genus Vibrio.
