Specialized box C/D snoRNPs act as antisense guides to target RNA base acetylation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2017
Box C/D snoRNAs are known to guide site-specific ribose methylation of ribosomal RNA. Here, we demonstrate a novel and unexpected role for box C/D snoRNAs in guiding 18S rRNA acetylation in yeast.

Sequence determination of the 3' terminal T1 oligonucleotide of 18S ribosomal RNA

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1976
We have reexamined the primary structure of the 3' terminal oligonucleotide of 18S RNA from chicken fibroblasts and have shown, contrary to previously published results that this extremity G-A-U-C-A-U-U-AOH is identical to that of the rabbit, drosophila and bombyx.

Phylogenetic position of the Tardigrada based on the 18S ribosomal RNA gene sequences [PDF]

open access: yesZoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 1996
The phylogenetic position of the Tardigrada remains uncertain. This is due to the limited information available, and the uncertainty of whether some characters are homologous or analogous with other taxa. Based on some morphological characters, current discussion centres on whether the taxon branches from the annelid-arthropod lineage, or lies within ...

Dynamics of Cell Fate Decisions during Chemically Induced Multi‐Lineage Trans‐Differentiation at Single‐Cell Level

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A critical aspect of chromosomal remodeling in small molecule‐induced multilineage trans‐differentiation(iMT) is elucidated. A dynamic atlas spanning over 35 days profiles terminal trans‐differentiated cells, which reverted to a more youthful state. This study reveals parallels between iMT and other cell fate determination processes, emphasizing an ...

N‐acetyltransferase 10 promotes colon cancer progression by inhibiting ferroptosis through N4‐acetylation and stabilization of ferroptosis suppressor protein 1 (FSP1) mRNA

open access: yesCancer Communications, Volume 42, Issue 12, Page 1347-1366, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background N‐acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10) is the only enzyme known to mediate the N4‐acetylcytidine (ac4C) modification of mRNA and is crucial for mRNA stability and translation efficiency. However, its role in cancer development and prognosis has not yet been explored.

Molecular interactions between the constituents of small ribosomal subunit [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Availability of high-resolution crystal structures of ribosomal subunits of different species opens a route to investigate about molecular interactions between its constituents and stabilization strategy. Structural analysis of the small ribosomal subunit shows that primary binder proteins are mainly employed in stabilizing the folded ribosomal RNA by ...

Orally Administered Functional Polyphenol‐Nanozyme‐Armored Probiotics for Enhanced Amelioration of Intestinal Inflammation and Microbiota Dysbiosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel polyphenol‐nanozyme‐armored probiotic system (ECA@EcN) for enhanced treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). By integrating chitosan‐modified epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG‐CS) with gold nanozymes, the system effectively scavenges ROS, improves probiotic viability, and restores gut microbiota balance.

Screening and Identification of Novel DNA Aptamer for Targeted Delivery to Injured Podocytes in Glomerular Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops RLS‐2, a high‐affinity aptamer that specifically targets injured podocytes, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery. In vitro, RLS‐2 shows stability, specificity, efficient siRNA delivery via AsiCs, and uptake by podocytes.

HIVEP3 cooperates with ferroptosis gene signatures to confer adverse prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 5050-5065, December 2022., 2022
The aberrant expression pattern and prognostic implications of HIVEP3 in AML were explored and validated based on versatile bioinformatics tools. A LASSO model which combined HIVEP3 with ferroptosis regulators was created to predict the prognosis for AML patients.

Molecular Characterization of a Non–Babesia divergens Organism Causing Zoonotic Babesiosis in Europe

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2003
In Europe, most reported human cases of babesiosis have been attributed, without strong molecular evidence, to infection with the bovine parasite Babesia divergens.
