Harmful and Harmless Soil-Dwelling Fungi Indicate Microhabitat Suitability for Off-Host Ixodid Ticks
Following blood meals or questing bouts, hard ticks (Ixodidae) must locate moist off-host microhabitats as refuge. Soil-dwelling fungi, including entomopathogenic Beauveria bassiana (Bb), thrive in moist microhabitats.

Oxidation of nitrobenzene by ozone in the presence of faujasite zeolite in a continuous flow gas–liquid–solid reactor [PDF]
This work investigates the oxidation of nitrobenzene (NB) by ozone in the presence of faujasite zeolite. Experiments were carried out in a gas–liquid–solid reactor were ozone transfer and NB oxidation took place at the same time.

Evaluation of Activated Carbon as a Reactive Cap Sorbent for Sequestration of PCBs in Presence of Humic Acid [PDF]
This study investigated the interferences caused by high humic acid concentrations on the adsorption of coplanar and noncoplanar polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) on coconut shell activated carbon. In particular, the research focuses on the application of

Hydroxyl radical production in DC streamer discharge [PDF]
Plasma-induced advanced oxidation processes do not suffer from the drawbacks, such as carcinogenic by-products, associated with conventional water treatment, and enable the removal of micro-pollutants.

Non‐Canonical C16 Homoterpene Biosynthesis Widespread in Actinobacteria
The first biosynthetic pathway to C16 homoterpenes in actinobacteria is reported. A novel methyltransferase family mediates methylation and double bond isomerization to produce a modified C16 precursor. Subsequent conversion by a distinct terpene cyclase family yields unprecedented homoterpenes. The findings enable the development of novel biocatalytic

Tastes and odours in potable water:perception versus reality [PDF]
Tastes and odours are amongst the few water quality standards immediately apparent to a consumer and, as a result, account for most consumer complaints about water quality.

Removal of volatile organic compounds by heterogeneous ozonation on microporous synthetic alumina silicate [PDF]
A hybrid process combining adsorption and ozonation was examined as an alternative treatment for odorous volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) was chosen to study the influence of operating parameters.

Effects of Temporary Rearing on the Muscle Flavor Quality of Chinemys reevesii
Chinemys reevesii is a special economic aquaculture species in China and is valued highly for its medicinal and nutritional benefits. This paper presents the first systematic study on the volatile odor compounds of C. reevesii. Pond culture and greenhouse culture are the most common aquaculture modes of C. reevesii.
