Chlorosulfonation of 2-pyridones [PDF]
Chlorosulfonlyl-substituted 2-pyridones were obtained for the first time. The ability of 2-pyridone-3-sulfonyl chlorides to undergo conversion to sulfonylides of the pyridine series by the action of bases is shown in the case of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2-quinolone-3-sulfonyl chloride.

Tetrachlorobis(2-pyridone)-bis(μ2-2-pyridone)-dicopper
Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1993In this structure two Cu II centres 3.4448 (11) A apart are bridged asymmetrically by two 2-pyridone ligands and each is further coordinated by three terminal ligands (two chlorides and one 2-pyridone). Each molecule has an approximate, non-crystallographic centre of symmetry.

Abstract DFT/B3-LYP(6-31++G**) calculations are used to provide information on closed N – H ⋯ O H -bonded complexes, containing two hydrogen bonds. The studied model systems with two H-bonds are the 2-pyridone dimer, 2-pyridone–H2O and 2-pyridone–CH3OH.

Photoionization of 2-pyridone and 2-hydroxypyridine
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2010We studied the photoionization of 2-pyridone and its tautomer, 2-hydroxypyridine by means of VUV synchrotron radiation coupled to a velocity map imaging electron/ion coincidence spectrometer. The photoionization efficiency (PIE) spectrum is composed of steps.

Photoreactions of alkylated 2-pyridones
Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 2, 1985Photoisomerisation and dimerisation reactions in solution have been studied with a series of alkylated 2- pyridones (1). The low quantum efficiencies for the photoisomerisation (0.01–0.07) are related to the short-lived singlet excited states (below 1 ns). The effects of temperature, solvent, and substrate concentration were also examined.
