Specificity and Induction of Undecyl Acetate Esterase from Pseudomonas cepacia Grown on 2-Tridecanone [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1974
Undecyl acetate esterase from Pseudomonas cepacia grown on 2-tridecanone was strongly inhibited by organophosphates and other esterase inhibitors. Also, p -chloromercuribenzoate at 1 × 10 −4 M showed a 70% inhibition of esterase activity.

Chemical Variability of the Leaf Essential Oil of Two Subspecies of Juniperus oxycedrus L. From Northwestern Algeria. [PDF]

open access: yesChem Biodivers
Abstract Thirty‐seven essential oil samples have been isolated from leaves of individual plants of Juniperus oxycedrus (subspecies oxycedrus and macrocarpa) growing wild in Tlemcen and Aïn Témouchent provinces (Northwestern Algeria). Analysis of eight selected oil samples by GC(RI), GC/MS and 13C NMR, allowed the identification of 88 components that ...

The Oxidation Mechanisms of Saturated Fatty Acids: Formation of Hydroperoxide Isomers and Production of 2‐Alkanones and Lactones

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, Volume 103, Issue 8, Page 945-955, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Saturated fatty acids (SFAs) are generally regarded simply as being resistant to oxidation compared with unsaturated fatty acids. However, it has long been reported that SFAs can undergo oxidation when heated at high temperatures, leading to the formation of unique degradation products such as 2‐alkanones and lactones.

Genomic and metabolomic insights into the antimicrobial compounds and plant growth-promoting potential of Bacillus velezensis Q-426

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2023
Background The Q-426 strain isolated from compost samples has excellent antifungal activities against a variety of plant pathogens. However, the complete genome of Q-426 is still unclear, which limits the potential application of Q-426.

The Volatile Pentadecane From Bacillus Alleviates Plant Iron Deficiency Through Activating the Reduction‐Based Fe Uptake System

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 3, Page 1564-1577, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for plant growth and development. Rhizosphere microorganisms play crucial roles in plant Fe nutrition, yet the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here, we assessed the effect of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced by Bacillus velezensis SQR9 on Fe uptake in Arabidopsis, elucidated ...

Metathesis-Mediated Synthesis of (R)-10-Methyl-2-tridecanone, the Southern Corn Rootworm Pheromone

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2012
(R)-10-Methyl-2-tridecanone, the female sex pheromone of the southern corn rootworm (Diabrotica undecimpunctata howardi Barber), was synthesized in 9 steps from methyl (S)-3-hydroxy-2-methylpropanoate in a 15.7% overall yield. Olefin cross metathesis between (R)-6-methyl-1-nonene and 5-hexen-2-one employing Grubbs' first-generation catalyst was the key

Prediction of Thermal Modulated Comprehensive Two‐Dimensional Gas Chromatographic Separation Using a Modular, Graph‐Based Simulation Platform

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 49, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Comprehensive two‐dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) offers exceptional separation performance, but method development remains time‐consuming and sensitive to numerous system parameters. In this study, we present a modular simulation framework for GC×GC systems with thermal modulation, implemented in the open‐source Julia package ...
