Measurement of lead-210, bismuth-210, and polonium-210 in environmental samples
Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles, 1991Mathematical equations governing the ratio of210Bi/210Pb and210Po/210Pb activities are used to explain the ingrowth of210Bi and210Po in environmental samples during post collection. Procedures are described for radiochemical separation of210Pb,210Bi, and210Po in a state of radioactive disequilibrium and quantification by alpha- and beta-counting. Also,

Baseline concentration of Polonium-210 ( 210 Po) in tuna fish
Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2016Several species of tuna fish were analyzed for (210)Po content in their edible muscle tissues. This study was carried out as a part of baseline data generation around a large nuclear power plant situated at Kudankulam, southeast coast of India. The concentration of (210)Po in the muscle tissue ranged from 40.9±5.2 to 92.5±7.9Bq/kg of fresh fish, and ...

Polonium-210 and lead-210 in the terrestrial environment: a historical review
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2011The radionuclides (210)Po and (210)Pb widely present in the terrestrial environment are the final long-lived radionuclides in the decay of (238)U in the earth's crust. Their presence in the atmosphere is due to the decay of (222)Rn diffusing from the ground.

Lead-210 and Polonium-210 in Biological Samples from Alaska
Science, 1966The naturally occurring concentrations of lead-210 and polonium-210 in certain biological samples from Alaska are unusually high. The concentration processes are similar to those observed for artificially produced radioactive fallout. Concentrations of these nuclides are greater in Alaskan natives than they are in other United States residents.

A simultaneous determination of lead-210 and polonium-210 in sea water
Analytica Chimica Acta, 1973Abstract A new radiochemical procedure is described for the determination of lead-210 and polonium-210 in sea water. These nuclides are concentrated by coprecipitation with calcium carbonate from a sea water sample of large volume and then separated from calcium by formation of the hydroxides.

Accuracies in Po-210 determination for lead-210 dating
Hydrobiologia, 1991Various laboratory techniques have been utilized worldwide for measuring lead-210 in sub-recent deposits through its grand-daughter product polonium-210. Isotope dilution alpha spectrometry proved a suitable tool for absolute determination of lead-210 for the dating of aquatic deposits.

Po-210 and Pb-210 as atmospheric tracers and global atmospheric Pb-210 fallout: a Review
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2011Over the past ∼ 5 decades, the distribution of (222)Rn and its progenies (mainly (210)Pb, (210)Bi and (210)Po) have provided a wealth of information as tracers to quantify several atmospheric processes that include: i) source tracking and transport time scales of air masses; ii) the stability and vertical movement of air masses iii) removal rate ...

The part played by polonium-210 in contributing to the biologically effective radiation dose received by humans in a variety of environments is described. The selection of data presented has been dictated to a large extent by the availability of post-mortem and other specimens and cannot be considered comprehensive.
