Lead-210 is a useful tracer in environmental studies for a wide range of applications, particularly in atmospheric research and geochronology. Liquid scintillation counting (LSC) is a commonly used measurement method for 210Pb analysis. In the present work, to increase detection efficiency, an improved LSC technique for 210Pb determination was ...

Synthesis of [210Pb] (CH3)3 PbCl
International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part A. Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1988Abstract Methods have been developed for the electrodeposition of 210 Pb 2+ on a copper coil and the subsequent use of this coated coil as a sacrificial cathode for an electrochemical reduction in the presence of excess methyl iodide. Labelled tetramethyllead was isolated by extraction (85% recovery), converted to [ 210 Pb](CH 3 ) 3 PbCl by ...

210Pb–226Ra disequilibria in volcanic rocks
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2010Abstract Isotopes of the U-decay series, such as 238U–230Th–226Ra, have been used successfully to study timescales of magmatic processes. This study provides an overview of a shorter lived isotope pair, 210Pb–226Ra, which allows study of processes occuring during a crucial time window for magma ascent and eruption.

Initial Study of 210Pb in Indoor Air
Health Physics, 1993An exploratory program was undertaken to determine the feasibility of measuring the indoor air concentration of 210Pb. Low flow rate pumps and membrane filters were used to collect samples in an office. The air filter samples were stored for 1.6 y and 210Po was chemically separated and measured by alpha spectrometry.

210Po AND 210Pb INHALATION BY CIGARETTE SMOKING IN ITALY
Health Physics, 2007210Po and its precursor 210Pb in cigarette smoke contribute a significant radiation dose to the lungs of smokers. In this work, the concentration of 210Po was determined in 17 of the most frequently smoked cigarette brands in Italy. Samples of tobacco, fresh filters, ash, and post-smoking filters were analyzed; 210Po was determined by alpha ...

Abstract The 210 Pb(t, p) 212 Pb reaction has been carried out with 20 MeV tritons at a number of angles. The resulting energy level diagram for 212 Pb is remarkably similar to 210 Pb permitting tentative J π assignments. The excitation strengths to the lower levels agree well with a simple pairing vibration model.

210Pb balance in Long Island Sound
Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1978Abstract A material balance is constructed for excess 210Pb (relative to 226Ra) as a test of the retentivity of Long Island Sound for a reactive heavy metal. Excess 210Pb is supplied to Long Island Sound chiefly by direct atmospheric deposition [1 ± 0.2(dis·min−1)cm−2·yr−1].

A liquid-scintillation-based primary standardization of 210Pb
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2007A new radioactivity solution standard of 210Pb has been developed and will be disseminated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as standard reference material (SRM) 4337. This new 210Pb solution standard is contained in a 5 mL flame-sealed borosilicate glass ampoule, consists of (5.133+/-0.002)g of a nominal 1mol L(-1) nitric ...

210Pb in Indoor Air by Total Alpha Measurement
Health Physics, 1996210Pb has been measured in indoor air by two methods. Low flow rate pumps and membrane filters were used to collect the samples. The air filter samples were stored for 1.7 y, after which total alpha activity was determined by scintillation counting. 210Pb was then chemically separated and measured by alpha spectrometry. The efficacy of determination of

210Pb and 210Po in medicinal plants
Radiochemistry, 2015The activity concentrations of 210Pb and 210Po in 16 samples of medicinal plants sold in St. Petersburg pharmacies were determined. The activity concentrations of 210Pb and 210Po, recalculated to the sample fabrication dates, vary in the range from
