Initial Study of 210Pb in Indoor Air
Health Physics, 1993An exploratory program was undertaken to determine the feasibility of measuring the indoor air concentration of 210Pb. Low flow rate pumps and membrane filters were used to collect samples in an office. The air filter samples were stored for 1.6 y and 210Po was chemically separated and measured by alpha spectrometry.

Toxicology Letters, 1981
Lead 210 (Radium D) is a naturally occurring radionuclide which is frequently used in toxicological studies due to its long half-life. The use of 210Pb in tracer studies poses two problems. First, 210Pb, along with its daughters 210Bi and 210Po, presents a significant health hazard to laboratory personnel.

A liquid-scintillation-based primary standardization of 210Pb
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2007A new radioactivity solution standard of 210Pb has been developed and will be disseminated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as standard reference material (SRM) 4337. This new 210Pb solution standard is contained in a 5 mL flame-sealed borosilicate glass ampoule, consists of (5.133+/-0.002)g of a nominal 1mol L(-1) nitric ...

Intake of 226Ra, 210Pb and 210Po with food in Poland
Science of The Total Environment, 1997Intake with food and water of 226Ra, 210Pb and 210Po was determined for an adult population in regions of central, northern and northeastern Poland. The content of radionuclides was determined in the daily diet and, in the central region, also in foodstuffs and drinking water.

210Pb Fluxes in Acidified Lakes
1986The acidification of softwater lakes by atmospheric deposition of strong acids has occurred in several regions of the world; however, the rate of acidification of freshwater systems is generally unknown. We have tested the hypothesis that the 210Pb technique can be used to establish the chronologies of sediments in acidified lakes, with the purpose of ...

First 226Ra–210Pb dating of a young speleothem
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2006Whereas the method based on the decrease of excess 210Pb has already been used to date young (< 120 yr) speleothems (e.g. [M. Baskaran, T. M. Iliffe, Age determination of recent cave deposits using excess 210Pb — A new technique, Geophys. Res. Lett.

A problem in 210Pb geochronologies of sediments
Nature, 1978KNOWLEDGE of sedimentation rates in marine and lake deposits is of fundamental importance in understanding aquatic and sedimentary geochemical processes which may have been measurably altered since deposition times. A chronological method based on 210Pb (half life 21.3 yr) is useful in sedimentary environments in which sedimentation rates have been ...

Determination of 210Pb in water samples
2006Lead-210 is a naturally occurring radionuclide of the 238U series. 210Pb has important role in human radiation exposure because of 210Pb deposit in the skeleton long enough and highly contribute to skeletal dose. 210Pb also can be used for studying of different environmental and marine process (tracing atmospheric process and analyzing the behavior of ...

Excretion rates of 210Po and 210Pb in Prague inhabitants
Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2013Excretion rates of (210)Po and (210)Pb in the urine were investigated in 40 healthy inhabitants of Prague (22 males, 18 females, age: 23-70 y, non-smokers). In 20 inhabitants the excretion rates of (210)Po and (210)Pb in faeces were also studied. The mean urinary excretion rates of (210)Po and (210)Pb were 4.1 and 6.0 mBq d(-1), respectively.

A note on removal of the compaction effect for the 210Pb method
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2007The compaction effect may significantly flatten an excess (210)Pb depth profile near the sediment-water interface, resulting in erroneous (210)Pb dating. There are three mathematical approaches to correct for the compaction effect. In the present paper, some further deductions have been done to make the procedure of approach calculations more clearly ...
