Fate of 210Pb inhaled by rats

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1977
Abstract This report describes the distribution of inhaled lead in the rat. Animals were exposed for a short period to an aerosol which qualitatively and quantitatively simulates urban atmosphere. Exposure is followed by a solubilization of lead particles that agrees with the results reported after inhalation of soluble particles of lead.

210Pb/226Ra and 210Po/210Pb disequilibria in seawater and suspended particulate matter

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1976
Abstract The distribution of 210 Po and 210 Po in dissolved ( 0.4 μm) phases has been measured at ten stations in the tropical and eastern North Atlantic and at two stations in the Pacific. Both radionuclides occur principally in the dissolved phase.

210Pb in Bioenergy Production

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 1988
Abstract 210Pb is probably one of the major contributors to the radiation dose received by humans from the fumes emitted from the stacks of power plants using fossil fuels or biofuels. As a first step in the estimation of the total radiological impact on humans of radioactive emissions, we have determined 210Pb radioactivity enrichment ...

Preparation of a 210Pb target

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1987
Abstract After an ion-exchange separation of 210 Pb from its daughters 210 Bi and 210 Po, a 210 Pb target has been electrodeposited on a carbon film. We describe the different steps of the target preparation, keeping in mind that 210 Pb is a highly radioactive isotope and that consequently the techniques must be efficient.

Retention of 210Pb in Beagle Dogs

Health Physics, 1973
Abstract Four adult beagle dogs were injected intravenously with 11 to 26 μCi of 210Pb cleared of 210Po. The retention of 210Pb was followed by in vivo gamma-ray counting and by the collection and analysis of excreta. The effective half lives for the slowest time constant component of a four-term exponential sum retention equation was 815 days based ...

The 210Pb Bremsstrahlung In The Background Of Lead Shields

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
Contemporary theories of dark matter predict that weakly interacting massive particles interact with matter by nuclear recoils leaving in the detector energies up 50 keV. The bremsstrahlung of 210Pb contributes to this spectral region. The 46.5 keV gamma intensity of 210Pb in the background can be easily reduced by inner lining, but the bremsstrahlung ...

Determination of 210Pb by measurement of 210Pb and its progenies using a liquid scintillation counter

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2019
Lead-210 is a useful tracer in environmental studies for a wide range of applications, particularly in atmospheric research and geochronology. Liquid scintillation counting (LSC) is a commonly used measurement method for 210Pb analysis. In the present work, to increase detection efficiency, an improved LSC technique for 210Pb determination was ...

210Pb in Forage Consumed by Dairy Cows

Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2009
The aim of this research was to determine (210)Pb concentrations in forage from farms located in the municipalities of Pedra and Venturosa, in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, where rolled blocks of mafic rock with a high percentage of U(3)O(8) were found.

A review of 210Pb and 210Po in moss

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity
Among environment contaminants, 210Pb and 210Po have gained significant research attention due to their radioactive toxicity. Moss, with its exceptional adsorption capability for these radionuclides, serves as an indicator for environmental 210Pb and 210Po pollution.

Measurements of 210Pb Concentrations in Airborne in Kuwait

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2002
The concentrations of 210Pb in the atmosphere of Kuwait City have been monitored over a period of five years (January 1994 to December 1998) using cellulose air filters for analysis with liquid scintillation counting forgross beta. Results show that the distribution of daily averaged 210Pb concentrations varied from 0.002 to 2.53 mBqm(-3) with an ...
