The 2+2-Signature and the 1+1-Matrix-Brane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We discuss different aspects of the 2+2-signature from the point of view of the quatl theory. In particular, we compare two alternative approaches to such a spacetime signature, namely the 1+1-matrix-brane and the 2+2-target spacetime of a string.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Symmetric indefinite triangular factorization revealing the rank profile matrix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present a novel recursive algorithm for reducing a symmetric matrix to a triangular factorization which reveals the rank profile matrix. That is, the algorithm computes a factorization $\mathbf{P}^T\mathbf{A}\mathbf{P} = \mathbf{L}\mathbf{D}\mathbf{L}^

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

The role of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in the metastasis and development of hypopharyngeal carcinoma

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2021
Introduction: The role of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and 9 in the metastasis and development of hypopharyngeal carcinoma has not been clarified. Objectives: To observe the relationship between matrix metalloproteinase-2, matrix metalloproteinase-9 and ...

Gauged Yukawa Matrix Models and 2-Dimensional Lattice Theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We argue that chiral symmetry breaking in three dimensional QCD can be identified with N\'eel order in 2-dimensional quantum antiferromagnets. When operators which drive the chiral transition are added to these theories, we postulate that the resulting ...

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

A Study of the Matrix Carleson Embedding Theorem with Applications to Sparse Operators

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we study the dyadic Carleson Embedding Theorem in the matrix weighted setting. We provide two new proofs of this theorem, which highlight connections between the matrix Carleson Embedding Theorem and both maximal functions and $H^1$-BMO ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
