Development and application of KASP assays to differentiate between Sorghum bicolor, halepense, and their hybrids

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A panel showing the morphological differences between Sorghum halepense (A), hybrids (B), and Sorghum bicolor (C) with a novel KASP‐based genetic assay capable of reliably distinguishing between them. Partially Created in BioRender. https://BioRender.com/1u30ukv Abstract BACKGROUND Sorghum bicolor and Sorghum halepense can readily hybridize, creating ...

Induced cytomictic crosstalk behaviour among micro-meiocytes of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub. (cluster bean): Reasons and repercussions

open access: yesCaryologia, 2020
Cytomictic behaviour of chromosomes among pollen mother cells was observed in mutagenic studies in cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.). The study of pollen mother cells (PMC) revealed various chromosomal aberrations among which cytomixis ...

Efficient haploid production on 'Wilking' mandarin by induced gynogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Seedlessness is a major criterion for the citrus fresh fruit market. Therefore, triploid breeding appears very promising for the selection of new citrus cultivars.

A method for genotyping elite breeding stocks of leaf chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) by assaying mapped microsatellite marker loci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: Leaf chicory (Cichorium intybus subsp. intybus var. foliosum L.) is a diploid plant species (2n = 18) of the Asteraceae family. The term "chicory" specifies at least two types of cultivated plants: a leafy vegetable, which is highly ...

Complete asynapsis resulting in 2n pollen formation in Paspalum jesuiticum Parodi (Poaceae)

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2014
Cytological investigation revealed complete asynapsis during microsporogenesis in 2 wild accessions of Paspalum jesuiticum collected in distinct Brazilian regions. Both accessions were hexaploid (2n = 6x = 60) and 60 univalents could be counted at diakinesis. In this phase, the majority of meiocytes exhibited univalents with both chromatids.

Introgression in interspecific hybrids of lily [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In order to introduce new desirable characters into the cultivar assortment of lily a range of interspecific crossing barriers has to be overcome. By using various pollination and embryo rescue techniques pre- and postfertilization barriers were overcome
