Functionalized poly(3-hydroxybutyric acid) bodies as new in vitro biocatalysts

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Proteins and Proteomics, 2018
Cytochromes P450 play a key role in the drug and steroid metabolism in the human body. This leads to a high interest in this class of proteins. Mammalian cytochromes P450 are rather delicate. Due to their localization in the mitochondrial or microsomal membrane, they tend to aggregate during expression and purification and to convert to an inactive ...

Vapor-phase conversion of aqueous 3-hydroxybutyric acid and crotonic acid to propylene over solid acid catalysts

Catalysis science & technology, 2021
Vapor phase conversion of 3-hydroxybutyric and crotonic acid to propylene in a continuous-flow reactor over silica–alumina and niobium catalysts demonstrates a new strategy for producing renewable fuels and chemicals from wastewater carbon.

A chemical degradation of 3-hydroxybutyric acid

Analytical Biochemistry, 1978
Abstract A method is described for degrading 3-hydroxybutyric acid to obtain specifically and in good yield each of its carbons as CO 2 . The hydroxybutyrate is dehydrated to crotonic acid which is reduced to butyric acid. The butyric acid is then degraded stepwise utilizing the Schmidt reaction.

Preparation of alkyl (R)-(−)-3-hydroxybutyrate by acidic alcoholysis of poly-(R)-(−)-3-hydroxybutyrate

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2000
An efficient method for the preparation of optically active alkyl (R)-(-)-3-hydroxybutyrates by chemical depolymerization of biopolymer, poly-(R)-(-)-(3-hydroxybutyrate), was established. This method consists of simple recovery of poly-(R)-(-)-(3-hydroxybutyrate) from bacterial cells followed by acidic alcoholysis. When poly-(R)-(-)-(3-hydroxybutyrate)

Enzymatic esterification of 3-hydroxybutyric acid

Biotechnology Letters, 1993
Candida cylindracea lipase catalysed esterification of (±)-3-hydroxybutyric acid (1) with n-butanol was studied in different solvents. This provided an alternative preparative method for the versatile chiron. butyl (S)-3-hydroxybutyrate (2) via kinetic resolution of (±)-1 With toluene as the reaction medium, the enantioselection was found to be ...
