The article describes a comparative study carried out on the reactor production of 32P by two different processes, namely, 32S(n,p)32P and 31P(n,γ)32P with a view to determine the merits and bottlenecks of each method and assess the usefulness of 32P obtained from each of the processes. In a typical batch, 250 g of elemental sulfur when irradiated at a

32P-labeling of bovine tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase with [32P]pyrophosphate
Molecular Biology Reports, 1981The covalent derivative of the tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase obtained under the action of32PPi contains one mole of the covalently bound pyrophosphate (or 2 moles of orthophosphate) per mole of dimeric enzyme. Dephosphorylation with alkaline phosphatase causes practically no changes of enzymatic activity although the enzyme looses its ability to bind ...

Abstract Particle-gamma angular correlations have been measured with the 29 Si(α,pγ) 32 P reaction at bombarding energies E α = 10.65, 10.69 and 11.00 MeV. Together with DSA lifetime measurements these experiments lead to seven unambiguous spin assignments to levels below 3.5 MeV excitation energy in 32 P.

Complications Associated with Intraperitoneal 32P
Gynecologic Oncology, 1994The charts of all patients having received intraperitoneal 32P in the Indiana University Department of Radiation Oncology were retrospectively reviewed for complications and potentially related factors. Ninety-five patients had received this therapy, with a mean follow-up of 43.6 months. The majority of patients (81) had ovarian cancer.

Abstract A 32 P-labeling method for the base composition analysis of nonradioactive DNA was developed consisting of the digestion of DNA to deoxynucleoside 3′-monophosphates by incubation with a mixture of micrococcal nuclease and spleen phosphodiesterase, transfer of 32 P-label from [γ- 32 P]ATP to the 5′-hydroxyl groups of the mononucleotides by ...

False-Positive 32P Uptake Tests
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1978Three patients had suspected choroidal melanoma and positive results for radioactive phosphorus (32P) uptake tests, leading to enuclearion in two of the patients. No malignancy was present on histopathologic examination. This experience reemphasizes the need for the ophthalmologist to evaluate the total clinical picture and not to give inappropriate ...

In vitro transfer of [32P]-label from α-[32P]-dATP into ribonucleotides
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1977Abstract During the incorporation of α-[ 32 P]-dATP into HeLa cell nuclei some of the [ 32 P]-label enters ribonucleic acid presumably because of intracellular nucleotide turnover. This result makes the conclusion about the existence of an RNA-DNA covalent linkage, based on the transfer of [ 32 P]-label from deoxyribonucleotides to ribonucleotides ...

32P-therapy in polycythemia vera
Klinische Wochenschrift, 1975A group of 52 consecutive patients with polycythemia vera was submitted to long-term therapy with radioactive phosphorus (32P). Initial phase of therapy induced complete remissions (normalization of hematogram; spleen not palpable) in 45% of the patients, and partial remissions in the remaining 55%.

The enzymatic preparation of [α-32P]nucleoside triphosphates, cyclic [32P]AMP, and cyclic [32P]GMP
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1979A method has been developed for the enzymatic preparation of alpha-(32)P-labeled ribo- and deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates, cyclic [(32)P]AMP, and cyclic [(32)P]GMP of high specific radioactivity and in high yield from (32)Pi. The method also enables the preparation of [gamma-(32)P]ATP, [gamma-(32)P]GTP, [gamma-(32)P]ITP, and [gamma-(32)P]-dATP of ...

We describe a procedure of preparing [32P]phosphotyrosyl histones with minimal contamination by 32P-labeled lipids; the latter was usually found to be mixed with the phosphoproteins when the cell membrane-enriched fraction of A-431 cells was used as a source of tyrosine kinase.
