Viable 3C-SiC-on-Si MOSFET design disrupting current Material Technology Limitations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The cubic polytype (3C-) of Silicon Carbide (SiC) is an emerging semiconductor technology for power devices. The featured isotropic material properties along with the Wide Band Gap (WBG) characteristics make it an excellent choice for power Metal Oxide ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Time Variable Faraday Rotation Measures of 3C-273 and 3C-279

open access: yes, 2001
Multifrequency polarimetry with the VLBA confirms the previously reported time-varying Faraday rotation measure (RM) in the quasar 3C-279. Variability in the RM and electric vector position angle (EVPA) of the jet component (C4) is seen making it an ...

The Road to Quasars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Although the extragalactic nature of 3C 48 and other quasi stellar radio sources was discussed as early as 1960 by John Bolton and others, it was rejected largely because of preconceived ideas about what appeared to be unrealistically high radio and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Estimating Molecular Thermal Averages with the Quantum Equation of Motion and Informationally Complete Measurements

open access: yesEntropy
By leveraging the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE), the “quantum equation of motion” (qEOM) method established itself as a promising tool for quantum chemistry on near-term quantum computers and has been used extensively to estimate molecular ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Survival rate and growth in the wild of sea trout (Salmo trutta L.) fry obtained using frozen semen

open access: yesArchives of Polish Fisheries, 2014
The aim of the study was to assess the growth and development of sea trout, Salmo trutta L., fry obtained from frozen, thawed semen after the fish had been released into the wild and were feeding there.
