Workload Characterization of 3D Games

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Workload Characterization, 2006
The rapid pace of change in 3D game technology makes workload characterization necessary for every game generation. Comparing to CPU characterization, far less quantitative information about games is available. This paper focuses on analyzing a set of modern 3D games at the API call level and at the micro architectural level using the Attila simulator.

Facial Expressions for 3D Game Applications

Third International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing (IIH-MSP 2007), 2007
Morphing is a process of smoothly transforming from one shape into another. In this paper, we present a feature-based method of employing mesh morphing to compute two homeomorphic facial meshes for animating 3D facial expressions in virtual worlds. We divide the method into five steps, including mesh parameterization, feature specification, vertex ...

Automated avatar creation for 3D games

Proceedings of the 2007 conference on Future Play - Future Play '07, 2007
Immersion is a key factor in video games and virtual reality simulation environments. Users' presence in a virtual environment is highly dependent on the user's identification with their avatar. Creating more realistic looking avatars thus enables a higher level of presence. Current video games allow character customizability via techniques such as hue

Designing gestures for mobile 3D gaming

Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Multimedia, 2012
In the last years 3D is getting more and more popular. Besides the increasing number of movies for 3D stereoscopic cinemas and television, serious steps have also been undertaken in the field of 3D gaming. Games with stereoscopic 3D output are now available not only for gamers with high-end PCs but also on handheld devices equipped with 3D ...

Evolution of 3D Games on Mobile Phones

International Conference on Mobile Business (ICMB'05), 2005
While there is no doubt that there will be an increasing trend towards 3D games on mobile devices the resource constraints of the devices themselves and the highly variable nature of the environment present considerable challenges for games developers. In this paper we consider some of the current constraints together with current and, probable, future
