Seeing Gusty Winds: Optical Tracking of Tree Motion Captures Peak 3‐s Gust Velocities
Our proof‐of‐concept shows that short video clips of trees and flags, analysed to detect their motions, potentially provide a low‐cost method to estimate peak 3‐s wind gusts. Such measurements offer insights into local wind hazard variations without the need for complex instrumentation, with future use envisaged in insurance risk assessment.

An end‐to‐end image compression model integrates Vision Mamba and omni‐dimensional dynamic convolution. Enhancements to the variational autoencoder‐based framework improved its global information modelling. Security issues of telemedicine‐based secure transmission of medical images find a very thin line drawn between diagnostic acceptability and cybersecurity. Partial but imperfect solutions emerge. JPEG2000 and HEVC concentrate only on compression, failing to provide any security consideration.
