Simplification of 3D City Model with CityGML

2018 IEEE 22nd International Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design ((CSCWD)), 2018
Many applications demand simplified 3D building models for fast visualization and analysis purposes. However, due to the huge spatial data, it intensifies the load of the computer in the visualization process, and the redundancy of the data also affects the user experience.

Towards a Semantic 3D Model of Sofia City

2021
More and more cities worldwide are working on their digital transformation in order to deliver better living environment for citizens. Over the last decades, a lot of research efforts are dedicated to development of semantic 3D city models, covering variety city dimensions based on standards such as CityGML.

Survey and Practice of 3D City Modeling

2006
3D city modeling is an interesting subject that attracts both computer aided design and computer graphics communities. This paper surveys the recent development of 3D city modeling techniques for either real or virtual city. Some typical approaches and fundamenta1 principles behind them are also analyzed and compared. Finally we introduce a rule-driven

3D City Modeling Based on Hidden Markov Model

2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007
In this paper, we present an automatic method for the 3D building reconstruction from satellite images. The proposed approach consists in reconstructing buildings by assembling simple urban structures extracted from a grammar of 3D parametric models, as a "LEGO" game.

How to achieve consistency for 3D city models

GeoInformatica, 2009
Consistency is a crucial prerequisite for a large number of relevant applications of 3D city models, which have become more and more important in GIS. Users need efficient and reliable consistency checking tools in order to be able to assess the suitability of spatial data for their applications. In this paper we provide the theoretical foundations for

Towards Interactive 3D City Models on the Web

International Journal of 3-D Information Modeling, 2012
A ubiquitous accessibility of data over the Web nowadays is very common. Although the Web, 3D graphics, and geographic data are crossing their ways, common applications are typically based on technologies that are rather esoteric to most web-developers.

An Efficient Platform for 3D City Model Visualization

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006
This paper presents an overview of the design of the system for interactive 3-D visualization of the city model. It uses high resolution images of IKONOS satellite and corresponding camera model of Rational Polynomial Coefficients (RPC) for building texture mapping and orthorectified images for ground texture mapping.

Modeling Cities in 3D: A Cellular Automaton Approach

Environment and Planning B: Planning and Design, 2008
This paper presents a quasi-3D cellular automaton (CA) simulation model of cities. A 2D CA model includes a cell attribute that represents building height information. Dynamic processes are depicted using four parameters: initial building coverage, interaction with adjacent neighborhood, inertia, and noise.

3D City Modeling Using Cognitive Loops

Third International Symposium on 3D Data Processing, Visualization, and Transmission (3DPVT'06), 2006
3D city modeling using computer vision is very challenging. A typical city contains objects which are a nightmare for some vision algorithms, while other algorithms have been designed to identify exactly these parts but, in their turn, suffer from other weaknesses which limit their application.
