On using gait to enhance face extraction for visual surveillance

open access: yes, 2012
Visual surveillance finds increasing deployment for monitoring urban environments. Operators need to be able to determine identity from surveillance images and often use face recognition for this purpose.

Inhibition of dipeptidyl peptidase 7 impairs lysophagy in LLOMe‐treated HepG2 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
DPP7 inhibition delays ubiquitin‐dependent lysophagy by attenuating ubiquitin accumulation and the recruitment of SQSTM1 and LC3 to damaged lysosomes, resulting in delayed clearance of damaged lysosomes and impaired restoration of lysosomal homeostasis. Created using FigureLabs (Certificate ID: FL‐PUB‐20260922‐Z99XNX).

Expression-Invariant 3D Face Recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present a novel 3D face recognition approach based on geometric invariants introduced by Elad and Kimmel. The key idea of the proposed algorithm is a representation of the facial surface, invariant to isometric deformations, such as those resulting from different expressions and postures of the face.

Creating invariance to "nuisance parameters" in face recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A major goal for face recognition is to identify faces where the pose of the probe is different from the stored face. Typical feature vectors vary more with pose than with identity, leading to very poor recognition performance.

3D Face Recognition using Sparse Spherical Representations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper addresses the problem of 3D face recognition using spherical sparse representations. We first propose a fully automated registration process that permits to align the 3D face point clouds.

Soft motions encoded by the fold and mediated by conserved hinge sites drive V‐ATPase allosteric machinery and autoinhibition

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Vacuolar H+‐ATPase (V‐ATPase) is a multisubunit rotary proton pump that acidifies intracellular compartments. Using elastic network models, we identified conserved hinge residues that govern its large‐scale functional motions. We show that intrinsically encoded ‘soft modes’ drive critical functional transitions, including rotary catalysis and ...

Gabor Filter Bank Representation for 3D Face Recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper an investigation of the validity of Gabor filter banks for feature extraction in a face recognition context is presented. Using the combined 2D/3D database collected by the Computer Vision Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame and the ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
