Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

MDS-Net: Multi-Scale Depth Stratification 3D Object Detection from Monocular Images

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Monocular 3D object detection is very challenging in autonomous driving due to the lack of depth information. This paper proposes a one-stage monocular 3D object detection network (MDS Net), which uses the anchor-free method to detect 3D objects in a per-

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

VKP-P3D: Real-Time Monocular Pseudo 3D Object Detection Based on Visible Key Points and Camera Geometry

open access: yesIEEE Access
Three-dimensional object detection has been substantially improved with the use of expensive LiDAR and stereo vision systems in intelligent driving. The less-expensive and more scalable solution of monocular 3D object detection, however, remains a key ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

2D Instance-Guided Pseudo-LiDAR Point Cloud for Monocular 3D Object Detection

open access: yesIEEE Access
Monocular three-dimensional (3D) scene understanding tasks, e.g., object size angle and 3D position, estimation are challenging to perform. More successful current methods usually require data from 3D sensors, which limits their performance if only ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Monocular 3D object detection for occluded targets based on spatial relationships and decoupled depth predictions

open access: yesFrontiers in Computer Science
Autonomous driving is the future trend. Accurate 3D object detection is a prerequisite for achieving autonomous driving. Currently, 3D object detection relies on three main sensors: monocular cameras, stereo cameras, and lidar.
