Analyzing perceptual attributes of 3d video
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2009The 3D (3 dimensional) video technologies are emerging to provide more immersive media content compared to conventional 2D (2Dimensional) video applications. In this paper we propose a joint source channel coding scheme (JSCC) for colour and depth based 3D video coding using subjective quality of 3D video.

An Overview of 3D Video and Free Viewpoint Video
2009An overview of 3D video and free viewpoint video is given in this paper. Free viewpoint video allows the user to freely navigate within real world visual scenes, as known from virtual worlds in computer graphics. 3D video provides the user with a 3D depth impression of the observed scene, which is also known as stereo video.

This paper proposes an improved algorithm based on Active Appearance Models (AAM) and applies on a real-time 3D video conference system with a novel 3D display device which can pop out an avatar out of the display in the air. The proposed algorithm utilizes an improved Adaboost algorithm [1] for face detection based on skin color information.

Motion Composition of 3D Video
20063D video, which is composed of a sequence of mesh models and can provide the user with interactivity, is attracting increasing attention in many research groups. However, it is time-consuming and expensive to generate 3D video sequences. In this paper, a motion composition method is proposed to edit 3D video based on the user’s requirements so that 3D ...

3DTV and 3d video communications
Proceedings of the 13th ACM international conference on Modeling, analysis, and simulation of wireless and mobile systems, 2010With wider availability of low cost multi-view cameras, 3D displays, and broadband communication options, 3D media is destined to move from the movie theater to home and mobile platforms. In the near term, popular 3D media will most likely be in the form of stereoscopic video with associated spatial audio.

A 3D Neural Model for Video Analysis
2009We propose a 3D self organizing neural model for modeling both the background and the foreground in video, helping in distinguishing between moving and stopped objects in the scene. Our aim is to detect foreground objects in digital image sequences taken from stationary cameras and to distinguish them into moving and stopped objects by a model based ...

In this chapter, compression methods for 3D video (3DV) are presented. This includes data formats, video and depth compression, evaluation methods, and analysis tools. First, the fundamental principles of video coding for classical 2D video content are reviewed, including signal prediction, quantization, transformation, and entropy coding.
