Enhanced galloping control of transmission lines: A comparative study of TMD and inerter-based spacer [PDF]
The threat of transmission line galloping to power grid integrity necessitates advanced control solutions. This study, therefore, evaluates and compares the performance of a conventional Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) with that of a novel inerter-based Tuned ...

Modeling and Validation of 3DOF Dynamics of Maglev Vehicle Considering Guideway [PDF]
Magnetically levitated (Maglev) vehicles maintain a constant air gap between guideway and car bogie, and thereby achieves non-contact riding. Since the straightness and the flatness of the guideway directly affect the stability of levitation as well as ...

Using deep learning generated CBCT contours for online dose assessment of prostate SABR treatments
Abstract Prostate Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) is an ultra‐hypofractionated treatment where small setup errors can lead to higher doses to organs at risk (OARs). Although bowel and bladder preparation protocols reduce inter‐fraction variability, inconsistent patient adherence still results in OAR variability.

Abstract Purpose An evaluation of the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of the Halcyon ring delivery system (RDS) for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatment to relatively small (1–3 cm) brain lesions. Methods After completing the extensive in‐house quality assurance checks including Winston–Lutz test and independent dose verification via MD Anderson ...

Analysis of the de-orbiting and re-entry of space objects with high area to mass ratio [PDF]
This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the de-orbiting and re-entry dynamics of space objects with a large area to mass ratio. Two different classes of objects are considered: fragments of satellites (like solar panels and pieces of thermal ...

Generalized Minimum Variance Control for MDOF Structures under Earthquake Excitation
Control of a multi-degree-of-freedom structural system under earthquake excitation is investigated in this paper. The control approach based on the Generalized Minimum Variance (GMV) algorithm is developed and presented.

In situ compression tests on the honeycomb structure of Fomes fomentarius hymenium under parallel and transverse loading show that parallel loading results in small and uniform displacements due to hyphae orientation along the honeycomb. Damage occurs through plastic buckling and delamination of tube walls in dry samples.
