Photometric Mapping with ISOPHOT using the "P32" Astronomical Observation Template [PDF]

open access: yesAstron.Astrophys.410:1075-1088,2003, 2003
The ``P32'' Astronomical Observation Template (AOT) provided a means to map large areas of sky (up to 45 x 45 arcmin) in the far-infrared (FIR) at high redundancy and with sampling close to the Nyquist limit using the ISOPHOT C100 (3 x 3) and C200 (2 x 2) detector arrays on board the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO).

A Multi-Wavelength Investigation of the Unidentified Gamma-Ray Source HESS J1708-410 [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J.707:1717-1722,2009, 2009
We report on recent XMM-Newton observations, archival radio continuum and CO data, and SED modeling of the unidentified Galactic plane source HESS J1708-410. No significant extended X-ray emission is observed, and we place an upper limit of 3.2 x 10{-13} erg cm{-2} s{-1} in the 2-4 keV range for the region of TeV emission.

Mapping Hsp104 interactions using cross‐linking mass spectrometry

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study examines how cross‐linking mass spectrometry can be utilized to analyze ATP‐induced conformational changes in Hsp104 and its interactions with substrates. We developed an analytical pipeline to distinguish between intra‐ and inter‐subunit contacts within the hexameric homo‐oligomer and discovered contacts between Hsp104 and a selected ...

Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

Relativistic Version of Landau Theory of Fermi Liquid in Presence of Strong Quantizing Magnetic Field- An Exact Formalism [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals Phys.312:398-410,2004, 2004
An exact formalism for the relativistic version of Landau theory of Fermi liquid in presence of strong quantizing magnetic field is developed. Both direct and exchange type interactions with scalar and vector coupling cases are considered.

ALS plasma biomarkers reveal neurofilament and pTau correlate with disease onset and progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective We performed a pilot screen to assess the utility of the NULISA™ (Nucleic‐acid‐Linked Immuno‐Sandwich Assay) platform in the identification of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) biomarkers. Methods Plasma from 86 individuals (48 ALS, 18 asymptomatic C9orf72 repeat expansion carriers (AsymC9), and 20 healthy controls) was analyzed ...

Measurement of the B0 and B- meson lifetimes in ALEPH [PDF]

open access: yesInt.J.Mod.Phys. A16S1A (2001) 410-412, 2000
The lifetimed of the Bbar0 and B- meson lifetimes are measured using data recorded on the Z peak with the ALEPH detector at LEP. An improved analysis based on partially reconstructed Bbar0 -> D*+l-nubar and B- -> D0l-nubar decays is presented.

Cortical Excitability Before and After Long‐Term Perampanel Treatment for Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Antiseizure medications (ASMs), which may influence cortical excitability, are the mainstay of epilepsy treatment. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) helps evaluate cortical excitability. We assessed changes in TMS responses using serial TMS measurements in people treated with an adjunctive noncompetitive AMPA‐receptor ...

Measuring an entropy in heavy ion collisions [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys.Proc.Suppl. 73 (1999) 408-410, 1998
We propose to use the coincidence method of Ma to measure an entropy of the system created in heavy ion collisions. Moreover we estimate, in a simple model, the values of parameters for which the thermodynamical behaviour sets in.

Elasticity of Diametrically Compressed Microfabricated Woodpile Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Modulus–porosity relationship is derived for woodpile lattices with struts under diametrical compression. The formula presented here that Young's modulus is proportional to the square of the volume fraction E˜ρ2$E \sim \left(\rho\right)^{2}$ is shown to be consistent with computations and laboratory experiments on 3D‐printed samples.
