Conjugative Transfer of Disease‐Encoding Plasmid Variants in Serratia spp. Alter Production of Enzymes and Virulence Properties

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Analysis of plasmid transconjugants relative to plasmid‐free and plasmid‐carrying Serratia spp. demonstrates erratic disease phenotypes and reduced fitness. Transconjugants also show reduced ability to degrade substrates associated with virulence, supported by transcriptomic data.

δ-Aminolevulinic acid cytotoxic effects on human hepatocarcinoma cell lines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
BACKGROUND: Acute Intermittent Porphyria is a genetic disorder of heme metabolism, characterized by increased levels of porphyrin precursors, delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and porphobilinogen (PBG).

Evaluation of a commercially available rapid urinary porphobilinogen test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: Demonstration of substantially increased urinary excretion of porphobilinogen is the cornerstone of diagnosing acute porphyria crisis. Because porphobilinogen testing is not implemented on clinical chemistry analysers, respective analyses are

Low‐Power Short‐Pulse‐Width Fractional Microneedle Radiofrequency Relieves LL37‐Induced Rosacea‐Like Skin Inflammation

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Refractory rosacea can be effectively treated with fractional microneedle radiofrequency (FMR), but its optimal parameters need confirmation. Objective To explore the optimal parameters of FMR in treating rosacea‐like dermatitis and the underlying mechanisms.
