Exploring invisible neutrino decay at ESSnuSB [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We explore invisible neutrino decay in which a heavy active neutrino state decays into a light sterile neutrino state and present a comparative analysis of two baseline options, $540~$km and $360~$km, for the ESSnuSB experimental setup. Our analysis shows that ESSnuSB can put a bound on the decay parameter $\tau_3/m_3 = 2.64~(1.68) \times 10^{-11}~$s ...

A Fully-Distributed Heuristic Algorithm for Control of Autonomous Vehicle Movements at Isolated Intersections

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2014
Optimizing autonomous vehicle movements through roadway intersections is a challenging problem. It has been demonstrated in the literature that traditional traffic control, such as traffic signal and stop sign control are not optimal especially for heavy

The rotational behavior of Kepler Stars with Planets [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 803, 69 (2015), 2015
We analyzed the host stars of the present sample of confirmed planets detected by Kepler and Kepler Objects of Interest (KOI) to compute new photometric rotation periods and to study the behavior of their angular momentum. Lomb-Scargle periodograms and wavelet maps were computed for 3,807 stars. For 540 of these stars, we were able to detect rotational

An analytical expression for the third coefficient of the Jones Polynomial [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett. B317 (1993) 540-544, 1994
An analytical expression for the third coefficient of the Jones Polynomial $P_J[\gamma,\, {\em e}^q]$ in the variable $q$ is reported. Applications of the result in Quantum Gravity are considered.

Photosynthetic apparatus performance and anatomical modulations of Alcantarea imperialis (Bromeliaceae) exposed to selenium during in vitro growth

open access: yesPhotosynthetica, 2021
Elements not usually included in culture medium formulations, such as selenium (Se), may have beneficial effects on micropropagated plants. We evaluated the effects of Se on the physiological and anatomical responses of Alcantarea imperialis during in ...

Tip of the Red Giant Branch Distance for the Sculptor Group Dwarf ESO 540-032 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present the first VI CCD photometry for the Sculptor group galaxy ESO 540-032 obtained at the Very Large Telescope UT1+FORS1. The (I, V-I) colour-magnitude diagram indicates that this intermediate-type dwarf galaxy is dominated by old, metal-poor ([Fe/H]~-1.7 dex) stars, with a small population of slightly more metal-rich ([Fe/H]~-1.3 dex), young ...

A disorder parameter for dual superconductivity in gauge theories [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys.Proc.Suppl. 63 (1998) 540-542, 1997
Dual superconductivity in the confining phase of gauge theories is discussed in terms of a disorder parameter which vanishes in normal phase and is different from zero in the superconducting phase.

Proton Life-Time Problem In Finite Grand Unified Theories [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Lett.B332:88-92,1994, 1994
We study proton decay in finite supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theories. We find that the dimension-five operators due to color triplet higgsino induce too rapid a proton decay. This behaviour can be traced to the large Yukawa couplings to the first generation that are necessary for finiteness.

GRSV parton densities revisited [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys.Proc.Suppl. 79 (1999) 538-540, 1999
An updated next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD analysis of all presently available longitudinally polarized deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) data is presented in the framework of the radiative parton model.

Remote Plasma-Induced Synthesis of Self-Assembled MoS2/Carbon Nanowall Nanocomposites and Their Application as High-Performance Active Materials for Supercapacitors

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
The objective of this study is to investigate the synthesis and influence of MoS2 on carbon nanowalls (CNWs) as supercapacitor electrodes. The synthesis of MoS2 on CNW was achieved by the introduction of hydrogen remote plasma from ammonium ...
