DIFFERENTIAL INACTIVATION OF SURROGATE VIRUSES WITH MEROCYANINE 540
Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1991AbstractBacteriophages may be useful as surrogates for animal viruses when the virucidal properties of different photosensitizing compounds are initially investigated. We studied photoinactivation of four bacteriophages, φX174, T7, PRD1, and φ6, by the dye merocyanine 540 (MC540) (15 μ g/mL).

There are many notable leaders in the annals of Coptic history whose names are well known. John of Barullos, however, is not one of them. The Synaxarium entry for 19 Kiyahk mentions only that John was the bishop of Barullos, and author of some articles.

This chapter examines Heraclitus’ philosophy and its relationship to process thinking in organization studies. It argues that thinking with Heraclitus makes us think beyond conventional categories and concepts and rethink our views on organization. After providing an overview of Heraclitus’ life, the chapter looks at his writings and discusses the ...

Il Nuovo Cimento, 1958
A homogenous sample of 540 τ-meson decays found in emulsion stacks exposed to the Berkeley Bevatron has been studied. Most of the events have been located by track scanning, and the effects of geometrical and scanning biases have been minimized. The results are discussed in detail and then combined with those of a comparably large sample examined ...

Registration of ‘HoCP 96‐540’ Sugarcane
Crop Science, 2005‘HoCP 96-540’ sugarcane (a complex hybrid of Saccharum officinarum L., S. spontaneum L., S. barberi Jeswiet, and S. sinense Roxb. amend. Jeswiet) (Reg. no. CV-123, PI 635995) was selected at Houma (Ho), Louisiana from progeny of the cross ‘LCP 86-454’ (Martin et al., 1996) × ‘LCP 85-384’ (Milligan et al., 1994) made at Canal Point (CP), FL, in 1991 ...

Fluorescent properties of merocyanine 540 in solutions of sialogangliosides
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1987The spectral modifications in the absorption and emission properties of merocyanine 540 have been evaluated in solvents of varying dielectric constants. The fluorescence behavior of dye in solutions of low dielectric constant has offered a possibility for monitoring the micropolarity of sialoganglioside micelles in aqueous solutions.

Antimicrobial activity of merocyanine 540: a photosensitizing dye
Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, 1998The antimicrobial activity of merocyanine 540 (MC 540), a photosensitizing dye previously used to purge malignant cells from autologous bone marrow grafts, was evaluated against a panel of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and Candida albicans in the presence and absence of light.

Antineoplastic And Antiviral Properties Of Merocyanine 540
SPIE Proceedings, 1989Simultaneous exposure to the lipophilic photosensitizer, merocyanine 540, and light in the presence of serum (or certain serum components) and oxygen kills leukemia cells, lymphoma cells, neuroblastoma cells, cell-free enveloped viruses, cell-associated enveloped viruses, and virus-infected cells.

Photochemistry and Photophysics of Merocyanine 540
1996The instrumentation at the Center for Fast Kinetics Research was intended to monitor very fast processes, such as time-resolved fluorescence or pulse radiolysis, in an effort to identify important but highly reactive intermediates. Knowing the nature and fate of these intermediates is of great value for formulating reaction mechanisms and, once the ...

The Lombard achievement, c. 540–712
1991The people who were to make themselves masters of much of Italy in the course of the late sixth and early seventh centuries were one of the few protagonists of the events of this period who, by name at least, might have been familiar to readers of classical authors.
