Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

CLASSIFICATION AND MODELLING OF URBAN MICRO-CLIMATES USING MULTISENSORAL AND MULTITEMPORAL REMOTE SENSING DATA [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2012
Remote sensing has widely been used in urban climatology since it has the advantage of a simultaneous synoptic view of the full urban surface. Methods include the analysis of surface temperature patterns, spatial (biophysical) indicators for urban heat ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Reanalyzing 55 Cnc with Bronez multitapers

open access: yes, 2023
Dodson-Robinson, Sarah E.Modern exoplanet searching heavily relies on the generalized Lomb-Scargle periodogram (GLS) to ascertain the frequency domain representation of unevenly sampled radial velocity measurements.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

SENSORLESS DIRECT POWER CONTROL FOR THREE-PHASE GRID SIDE CONVERTER INTEGRATED INTO WIND TURBINE SYSTEM UNDER DISTURBED GRID VOLTAGES

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2020
Wind turbines with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) are widely used as sources of energy connected to a grid. The studied system is composed of a wind turbine based on PMSG, a bridge rectifier, a boost converter, and a controlled inverter to

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
