Pneumococcal meningitis in a patient with severe COVID-19 on dexamethasone and tocilizumab: A case report

open access: yesIDCases, 2023
Although various therapeutic agents have been tried for coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and evidence has accumulated, the risk of secondary infection is increased by underlying disease and immunosuppressive drugs.

A deep Giant Metre-wave Radio Telescope 610-MHz survey of the 1^HXMM–Newton/Chandra survey field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present the results of a deep 610-MHz survey of the 1^HXMM–Newton/Chandra survey area with the Giant Metre-wave Radio Telescope. The resulting maps have a resolution of ~7 arcsec and an rms noise limit of 60 μJy. To a 5σ detection limit of 300 μJy, we

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Investigation of measurement method of saturation magnetization of iron core material using electromagnet

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
This paper discusses a measurement method for saturation magnetizations of iron core materials using an electromagnet, which can apply an extremely large magnetic field strength to a specimen.

610 Myofibroblasts Are Not Characteristic Features of Keloid Lesions

open access: yesJournal of Burn Care & Research, 2022
Abstract Introduction Keloids are disfiguring, fibroproliferative lesions that can result from an abnormal wound healing process. Keloids are characterized by excessive and abnormal deposition of extracellular matrix and unrestrained expansion beyond the original wound boundary.

Orbital and superorbital variability of LS I +61 303 at low radio frequencies with GMRT and LOFAR

open access: yes, 2015
LS I +61 303 is a gamma-ray binary that exhibits an outburst at GHz frequencies each orbital cycle of $\approx$ 26.5 d and a superorbital modulation with a period of $\approx$ 4.6 yr. We have performed a detailed study of the low-frequency radio emission

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Safety and Efficacy of Corneal Cross-Linking in Patients Affected by Keratoconus: Long-Term Results

open access: yesMedical Sciences, 2023
The present study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL). A total of 886 eyes with progressive keratoconus were enrolled in a retrospective cohort study in a tertiary care university hospital.

GMRT observations of the exoplanetary systems $τ$ Boötis and 55 Cancri [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We present archival Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) observations of two exoplanetary systems, $\tau$ Bo\"otis, and 55 Cancri, at 610 MHz and 150 MHz, respectively. Theoretical models predict these systems to have some of the highest expected flux densities at radio wavelengths.

Improved Pena-Rodriguez Portmanteau Test [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Statistics and Data Analysis, 51/3, 1731-1738 (2006), 2016
Several problems with the diagnostic check suggested by Pena and Rodriguez [2002. A powerful portmanteau test of lack of fit for time series. J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 97, 601-610.] are noted and an improved Monte-Carlo version of this test is suggested. It is shown that quite often the test statistic recommended by Pena and Rodriguez [2002.
