The progress in the development of DPI technology has boosted the use of sensitive drug molecules for lung diseases. However, delivery of these molecules from conventional DPI to the active site still poses a challenge with respect to deposition efficiency in the lung. At same time, serious systemic side effects of drugs have become a cause for concern.

Hierarchical Chain Model of Spider Capture Silk Elasticity
Spider capture silk is a biomaterial with both high strength and high elasticity, but the structural design principle underlying these remarkable properties is still unknown. It was revealed recently by atomic force microscopy that, an exponential force--

Self ion assisted modification of elastomer and its micro- and macroscopic properties. [PDF]
The composition of Zr-based thin films on rubber was investigated by utilizing the Rutherford backscattering technique and RUMP code simulation. The level of adgesion between the coating fabricated on rubber by means of self-ion assisted deposition was ...

The influence of the semimagnetic stator wedges of different sizes on the electromagnetic characteristics and the behavior of the induction motor is investigated. The study will be carried out with both analytical calculations and FEM analysis. The analytical calculations will take into account the stator and rotor slots, as well as the iron core ...

Bouncing gel balls: impact of soft gels onto rigid surface
After thrown onto a solid substrate, very soft spherical gels bounce repeatedly. Separate rheological measurements suggest that these balls can be treated as nearly elastic.

Abstract The presence and persistence of microplastics (MPs) in diverse aquatic environments are of global concern. Microplastics can impact marine organisms via direct physical interaction and the release of potentially harmful chemical additives incorporated into the plastic.

Nonaffine rubber elasticity for stiff polymer networks [PDF]
We present a theory for the elasticity of cross-linked stiff polymer networks. Stiff polymers, unlike their flexible counterparts, are highly anisotropic elastic objects. Similar to mechanical beams stiff polymers easily deform in bending, while they are

A fast direct locator for radiation source based on composite convolution neural network
In this article, we propose a fast source localization algorithm based on composite convolutional neural network. Our network is less complex than direct positioning scheme, but can achieve better positioning performance. It can also be easily extended to the field of multi‐source localization, which also has good robustness to small‐scale fading of ...

Cancer risks related to intellectual disabilities: A systematic review
Abstract Background People with intellectual disabilities (ID) face barriers in cancer care contributing to poorer oncological outcomes. Yet, understanding cancer risks in the ID population remains incomplete. Aim To provide an overview of cancer incidence and cancer risk assessments in the entire ID population as well as within ID‐related disorders ...
