Impact of the Severity of Acquired von Willebrand Syndrome on the Short-Term Prognosis in Patients with Temporary Mechanical Circulatory Support

open access: yesMedicina, 2022
Background and Objectives: Acquired von Willebrand syndrome (AVWS) develops not only in patients with durable ventricular assist devices but also in patients receiving temporary mechanical circulatory support (MCS).

Effects of Loperamide on Mechanical Allodynia Induced by Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2007
In the present study, we investigated whether the peripherally acting µ-opioid receptor agonist loperamide would inhibit allodynia in the non-inflamed dermatome of mice with herpetic pain.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

A Case of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies-Associated Vasculitis Overlap Syndrome

open access: yesCase Reports in Rheumatology, 2021
An overlap of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies- (ANCA-) associated vasculitis (AAV) is extremely rare: approximately 40 cases have been reported to date.

Discretization of Virasoro Algebra

open access: yes, 1993
A $q$-discretization of \vi\ algebra is studied which reduces to the ordinary \vi\ algebra in the limit of $q \ra 1$. This is derived starting from the Moyal bracket algebra, hence is a kind of quantum deformation different from the quantum groups ...

Anthraquinone dyes decolorization capacity of anamorphic Bjerkandera adusta CCBAS 930 strain and its HRP-like negative mutants

open access: yesWorld Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology, 2014
Cultures of the anamorphic fungus Bjerkandera adusta CCBAS 930 decolorizing, in stationary cultures, 0.01 % solutions of carminic acid and Poly R-478, were characterised by a strong increase in the activity of the horseradish peroxidase (HRP-like) and ...

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.
