Structural differences of cell walls in earlywood and latewood of Pinus sylvestris and their contribution to biomass recalcitrance

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) is an evergreen coniferous tree with wide distribution and good growth performance in a range of habitats. Therefore, wood from P. sylvestris is produced in many managed forests and is frequently used in industry. Despite

OnD-stability andB-stability [PDF]

open access: yesNumerische Mathematik, 1983
In this paper theD-stability properties of some classes of perturbed collocation methods are investigated. Among others we show the implicit Runge-Kutta methods described by Ehle-Chipman to beD-stable. We also give implicit Runge-Kutta methods that are bothD-stable andA-stable but notB-stable.

Stability Analysis Method for a Prestressed Railway Embankment considering the Additional Stresses Propagation Effect

open access: yesLithosphere, 2022
To evaluate the stability of a prestressed railway embankment (PRE), approximate solutions for the additional normal and shear stresses on an arbitrary potential sliding surface of a PRE are first derived using the elastic theory, by which the ...

To "stabilize'' or not to "stabilize"?

open access: yes, 2002
The controversial question of whether or not an atom will be completely ionized by a laser pulse of arbitrarily increasing intensity is discussed.

Eutectic Colony Formation: A Stability Analysis

open access: yes, 2000
Experiments have widely shown that a steady-state lamellar eutectic solidification front is destabilized on a scale much larger than the lamellar spacing by the rejection of a dilute ternary impurity and forms two-phase cells commonly referred to as ...

Stability and D-stability

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1978
AbstractIn this paper, we prove a new sufficient condition for D-stability of a matrix. We then use it to show that (i) a nonderogatory stable matrix A has a Schwarz canonical form which is D-stable, and (ii) a nonderogatory stable matrix A has a Routh-canonical form which is totally stable.

On the equivalence of a-stability and g-stability [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Numerical Mathematics, 1989
An algebraic result is obtained which enables the authors to establish the equivalence of \(A\)-stability and \(G\)-stability for one-leg methods. They obtain an alternative proof of the second Dahlquist barrier. In the following two of their results are stated: Theorem: If the polynomials \(\rho\) and \(\sigma\) are relatively prime, then \(A ...

A stability approach for solving multidimensional quadratic BSDEs

open access: yes, 2018
We establish an existence and uniqueness result for a class of multidimensional quadratic backward stochastic differential equations (BSDE). This class is characterized by constraints on some uniform a priori estimate on solutions of a sequence of ...
