Effective strain range-based prediction and analysis of the fatigue life of pipette shaft seal ring

open access: yesMechanics & Industry, 2021
The accuracy of nucleic acid extraction and diagnosis depends on the sealing performance of the pipetting device. The rubber seal ring at the front end of the pipette shaft is a critical component for ensuring the sealing performance of the pipetting ...

Study of the forming limit of 6063 aluminum alloy perforated sheet under in-plane and out-of-plane stretching conditions

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity
The current investigation deals with the forming process of Perforated Sheet Metal (PSM) process. The goal of the work is to determine by experimental and numerical methods the Forming Limit Diagrams (FLDs) of an Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy.

Experimental Characterization and Constitutive Modeling of the Effect of Prior Inelastic Strain on the Viscoplastic Behavior of AD730 at 700 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Investigation of Peak Particle Velocity Variations during Impact Pile Driving Process [PDF]

open access: yesCivil Engineering Infrastructures Journal, 2016
Impact pile driving is a multi-component problem which is associated to multi-directional ground vibrations. At first, vibration is transferred from the hammer to the pile and then to the common interface of pile and soil. This is then transferred to the

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Numerical study on semi-supported steel composite shear wall at the edges under near and far-fault loading [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی عمران شریف
The shear wall is one of the most important systems to resist lateral loads in the building. In addition to controlling the lateral displacement of the structure and dealing with the lateral force, this system significantly increases the stiffness of the

Time Domain Implementation of Transmitting Boundaries in ABAQUS for Discrete Soil-structure Interaction Systems [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Sciences, 2020
Soil-structure-interaction (SSI) analyses are essential to evaluate the seismic performance of important structures before finalizing their structural design.

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Experimental and Numerical Modal Analysis of Composite Sandwich Structures Using Surfboards as Model Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...
