Regulation of ABCA1 functions by signaling pathways [PDF]
ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) is an integral cell membrane protein that protects cardiovascular disease by at least two mechanisms: by export of excess cholesterol from cells and by suppression of inflammation. ABCA1 exports cholesterol and phospholipids from cells by multiple steps that involve forming cell surface lipid domains, binding

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Apolipoprotein E and Atherosclerosis: From Lipoprotein Metabolism to MicroRNA Control of Inflammation. [PDF]
Apolipoprotein (apo) E stands out among plasma apolipoproteins through its unprecedented ability to protect against atherosclerosis. Although best recognized for its ability to mediate plasma lipoprotein clearance in the liver and protect against ...

Redox regulation meets metabolism: targeting PRDX2 to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma
PRDX2 acts as a central redox hub linking metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In normal hepatocytes, PRDX2 maintains redox balance and metabolic homeostasis under oxidative stress. In contrast, during malignant transformation, PRDX2 promotes oncogenic signaling, stemness, and tumor initiation ...

ABCA1-deficient mice have low levels of poorly lipidated apolipoprotein E (apoE) and exhibit increased amyloid load. To test whether excess ABCA1 protects from amyloid deposition, we crossed APP/PS1 mice to ABCA1 bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC ...

Liver X receptor agonist treatment significantly affects phenotype and transcriptome of APOE3 and APOE4 Abca1 haplo-deficient mice. [PDF]
ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) controls cholesterol and phospholipid efflux to lipid-poor apolipoprotein E (APOE) and is transcriptionally controlled by Liver X receptors (LXRs) and Retinoic X Receptors (RXRs).

The role of lipid metabolism in neuronal senescence
Disrupted lipid metabolism, through alterations in lipid species or lipid droplet accumulation, can drive neuronal senescence. However, lipid dyshomeostasis can also occur alongside neuronal senescence, further amplifying tissue damage. Delineating how lipid‐induced senescence emerges in neurons and glial cells, and how it contributes to ageing and ...

By profiling the spatiotemporal hepatic landscape of CHB mouse models, the originally peri‐portal localized KCs migrated to the peri‐central in a CXCL9‐CXCR3‐dependent manner, facilitating their interaction with HBV+ hepatocytes. The interaction promoted LMD in KCs through ASGR1‐induced LXRα degradation, which, in turn, induced CSC formation via Stat3 ...
