Omental Torsion and Infarction with Right Inguinal Hernia: A Case Report

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2017
Omental torsion and infarction are rare causes of acute abdominal pain, and it is often difficult to diagnose these conditions preoperatively. There are several reports showing that computed tomography is useful to diagnose these conditions.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

The KDM6B/SLC10A2 Axis Suppresses MDSCs Recruitment via ERK/AP‐1 Signaling in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Colorectal cancer (CRC) progression is regulated by an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, but the epigenetic mechanisms governing this milieu remain unclear. This study identifies the histone demethylase KDM6B as a key regulator of myeloid‐derived

Size-Specific Dose Estimates in Chest, Abdomen, and Pelvis CT: Impact of Intra-Patient Variability in Water Equivalent Diameter

open access: yesRadiology, 2015
Purpose To develop software to automatically calculate size-specific dose estimates (SSDE) and to assess the impact of variations in water equivalent diameter (Dw) along the z axis on SSDE for CT examinations of the torso.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Magnetic Resonance Elastography of Abdomen

open access: yesAbdominal Imaging, 2015
Many diseases cause substantial changes in the mechanical properties of tissue, and this provides motivation for developing methods to noninvasively assess the stiffness of tissue using imaging technology.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
