A model to predict the ablation width and calculate the ablation threshold of femtosecond laser

Applied Surface Science, 2018
Abstract A new model is built to predict the width of ablated channel and calculated the ablation threshold of materials which are processed by femtosecond laser. In order to verify the accuracy of the model, a 50 MHz femtosecond laser with different scanning speeds is used to process the target.

Ablation threshold dependence on pulse duration for copper

Applied Surface Science, 2002
Abstract Laser ablation of Cu by short pulse laser (800 nm wavelength, 70 fs pulse duration, 0.01–28 J/cm2 fluence range) in air was studied. Three different ablation thresholds were distinguished in all metals. The ablation thresholds for Cu were found to be 0.018, 0.18, and 0.25 J/cm2.

Assessment of Radiofrequency Ablation Effect From Unipolar Pacing Threshold

PACE - Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2003
Methods for determining if an ablation lesion has been created by RF current application are limited, but needed. This study sought to determine if a change in pacing threshold at the ablation site might be used to assess creation of an ablation lesion.

The Ablation Threshold of Er:YAG and Er:YSGG Laser Radiation in Dental Enamel

Lasers in Medical Science, 2002
The scientific investigation of fundamental problems plays a decisive role in understanding the mode of action and the consequences of the use of lasers on biological material. One of these fundamental aspects is the investigation of the ablation threshold of various laser wavelengths in dental enamel.

Ablation Threshold and Interaction of Cemented Carbide Ablated by Ultrafast Laser

Journal of Micro and Nano-Manufacturing, 2021
Abstract In this study, we used an ultrafast laser with a wavelength of 1026 nm with the aim of analyzing the ablation threshold and morphologies of the irradiated surfaces of cemented carbide by varying the pulse duration and number of laser pulses. Specifically, we used pulse durations of 0.2, 2, and 10 ps and performed both gentle and

Laser ablation threshold of cultural heritage metals

2007 European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2007
In this work we determined experimentally the threshold fluence of the most common metals found in cultural heritage, e.g. copper, silver and their alloys. We carried out the ablation process in air at atmospheric pressure with 8 ns pulsed Nd:YAG and 23 ns pulsed KrF lasers, at 532 and 248 nm, respectively.

Laser ablation threshold of cultural heritage metals

Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 2008
The present work has the purpose to evaluate experimentally the ablation threshold fluences of copper, silver, and their alloys in order to induce a safety laser cleaning of the metal artifacts avoiding damages to the bulk. We used two different pulsed lasers: a KrF excimer laser operating at 248 nm, 23 ns pulse duration and a Nd:YAG laser operating at

Ablation threshold and ablation mechanism transition of polyoxymethylene irradiated by CO_2 laser

Applied Optics, 2016
Polyoxymethylene (POM) decomposes gradually as it is heated up by the irradiation of CO2 laser; the long-chain molecules of POM are broken into short chains, which leads to the lowering of the melting point and the critical temperature of the ablation products.

Threshold and ablation efficiency studies of microsecond ablation of gelatin under water

Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 1996
Laser thrombolysis is the selective ablation of thrombus occluding vessels by microsecond pulsed laser irradiation. To achieve efficient ablation of thrombus, the optimal wavelength, spot size, and pulse energy need to be determined.A gelatin-based thrombus model confined in 3 mm inner diameter tubes was ablated under water using a 1 microsecond pulsed

Limit of overheating and the threshold behavior in laser ablation

Physical Review E, 2003
Constant temperature and pressure molecular-dynamics simulations in conjunction with constant pressure and enthalpy simulations, designed to examine the threshold behavior in laser ablation, demonstrate that the rate of homogeneous nucleation (explosive boiling) increases sharply in a very narrow temperature range at approximately 90% of the critical ...
