Laser Ablation thresholds of thin Aluminium films

Ultrafast Optics 2023 - UFOXIII, 2023
We present an experimental and theoretical study of nanosecond and femtosecond laser ablation process of thin Al films. By using Laser Ablation Induced Photoacoustics (LAIP) we identify experimentally the laser ablation thresholds. Results were compared with computational simulations based in the Two Temperature Model and Molecular Dynamics (TTM-MD).

Energy threshold for argon laser ablation of arterial plaque

Applied Optics, 1987
Argon ion laser energy has been used for the removal of atheromatous plaque in vitro and in vivo and is a promising technique in recanalizing arterial channels for the surgical treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.1–4 It is important to understand the mechanism of tissue removal and laser tissue interaction to optimize the most efficient

Caries-selective ablation: the second threshold

SPIE Proceedings, 1993
ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to describe the appropriate fluence necessary for the effective removal of dentil decay byablation processes without or with at least minimal removal of healthy dentin. The experiments were conducted at twowavelengths [355 rim (frequency tripled, Q-switched Nd:YAG-laser) and 377 nm (frequency doubled, gain-switched ...

Thresholds for tissue ablation by focused ultrasound

IEEE Symposium on Ultrasonics, 2002
Thresholds are reported for the production of in vivo focal ultrasonic tissue ablation, in rat kidneys, for single-shot irradiation at 1 MHz and 2.25 MHz with time durations ranging from 10 ms to 1 s. Several investigators have studied ultrasonic dosages for tissue damage, whereas here thresholds are given to produce total tissue ablation.

Fluence Threshold Behaviour on Ablation and Bubble Formation in Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquids

ChemPhysChem, 2017
AbstractThe ablation yield and bubble‐formation process during nanosecond pulsed‐laser ablation of silver in water are analysed by stroboscopic videography, time‐resolved X‐ray radiography and in situ UV/Vis spectroscopy. This process is studied as function of lens–target distance and laser fluence.

Effects of multi-wavelength irradiation of polymers on the ablation threshold and ablation rate

ICALEO 2004: 23rd International Congress on Laser Materials Processing and Laser Microfabrication, 2004
The structuring of materials by pulsed UV-lasers is often characterised by a certain ablation threshold and a minimum ablation rate, which both depend on the applied wavelength and the selected material. Such minimum ablation rate can be, parameter dependent, in the range of up to some hundred nm.

Laser ablation of doped polymers: transient phenomena as the ablation threshold is approached

Macromolecules, 1992
The photochemistry of poly(methyl methacrylate) films dopes with 1,1,3,3-tetraphenylacetone was studied using 266-nm laser excitation at energy doses below and above the ablation threshold. The ressults suggest that transient phenomena appear to remain surprisingly simple in spite of the dramatic change induced by the laser pulse. It is also clear that

A MODEL FOR COAXIAL ABLATION BY PLASMA AT THE HEAT FLUX THRESHOLD

Surface Review and Letters, 2003
The purpose of this paper is to present a model for ablation due to a plasma flash in cylindrical symmetry. The model of ablation speed of the coaxial material is based on the integral method of the heat equation which basically involves the idea of a thermal layer. It is first shown that an important step in the process is the heating of the material.

Ablation Lesion Size Correlates with Pacing Threshold:

Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology, 2004
The virtual electrode model predicts that pacing stimulus strength should reflect proximity of the pacing electrode to excitable myocardium, allowing pacing threshold to assess radiofrequency (RF) ablation lesions and unexcitable scar. The purpose of this study is to correlate RF lesion size with pacing threshold and electrogram (EG) amplitude change ...

Laser ablation threshold determination by photoelectric emission

Applied Physics A Materials Science & Processing, 1999
Laser-induced surface damage introduces a dramatic change in the photoelectric properties of metallic and semiconductor substrates. Hence, by varying the applied laser intensity, ultra-short- pulsed laser-induced photoemission (in the mono- or multiphotonic regime according to the applied wavelength) can be used to monitor in situ surface structural ...
