Genetic variants in the CD59 gene: An exploratory study of large genome databases
Abstract Background CD59 is a GPI‐anchored glycoprotein on the surface of many cell types. It inhibits the assembly of the membrane attack complex, thus preventing complement‐mediated cell lysis. Lack of a functional CD59 protein causes recurrent ischemic strokes, neuropathy, and chronic hemolysis.

An experimental comparison and user evaluation of three different dried plasma products
Abstract Background and Objectives Access to blood components in pre‐hospital bleeding resuscitation is challenging. Dried plasma is a logistically superior alternative, and new products are emerging. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate laboratory and practical differences in three differently produced dried plasma products.

Characterization of the in vitro quality parameters of cold‐stored platelets containing aggregates
Abstract Background and Objectives Cold‐stored platelets (CSP) are being used more widely for the treatment of bleeding because of their longer shelf life. However, storage at low temperatures can induce the formation of platelet aggregates. We aimed to study the impact of aggregate formation on platelet quality and function.
