Third abrasive wear mode: is it possible?

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2014
The objective of this paper is to propose an initial discussion on the characterization of a third abrasive wear mode. The results obtained in a previous work [1] under different test conditions revealed the occurrence of the superposition of the ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Abrasion Behavior of Steel-Fiber-Reinforced Concrete in Hydraulic Structures

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This study investigated two types of abrasion resistance of steel–fiber-reinforced concrete in hydraulic structures, friction abrasion and impact abrasion using the ASTM C1138 underwater test and the water-borne sand test, respectively.

Bio-tribocorrosion mechanisms in orthopaedic devices : mapping the micro-abrasion-corrosion behaviour of a simulated CoCrMo hip replacement in calf serum solution

open access: yes, 2014
Load bearing implant prostheses such as orthopaedic hip and knee implants may be considered as tribocorrosion systems since the wear processes are a result of combined mechanical and chemical mechanisms.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Micro-abrasion–corrosion of a Co–Cr/UHMWPE couple in Ringer's solution : an approach to construction of mechanism and synergism maps for application to bio-implants

open access: yes, 2010
In studies of tribo-corrosion, the degradation of bio-materials has become of increasing research interest in recent years. This is because, in many cases, the interactions of the tribological and corrosion component in biological environments are not ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Abrasion Resistance of Thermoplastic Polyurethane in Abrasion Resistance Test Using Abrasives.

open access: yesKOBUNSHI RONBUNSHU, 1992
