Purification and Characterization of Abrus precatorius Agglutinin
Abrus pvecatorius agglutinin (APA) has been purified by a new purification procedure from the seeds of semen jequiriti produced in Bangladesh and Taiwan. The method was accomplished by 33-50% saturation ammonium sulfate fraction from 1% acetic acid extract of the seeds of semen jequiriti using gel filtration on Sephadex G-75 followed by DEAE-cellulose ...

New Triterpenoids from the Leaves of Abrus Precatorius
Natural Product Research, 2002Three new (1-3) triterpenoids and one known (4) triterpenoid were isolated from an acid hydrolyzed methanol-soluble extract of the leaves of Abrus precatorius. Their structures were identified as (20S,22S)-3beta,22-dihydroxycucurbita-5(10),24-diene-26,29-dioic acid delta-lactone (1), 3-O-[6'-methyl-beta-D-glucuronopyranosyl]-3beta,22beta-dihydroxyolean-

Antitubercular and Antiplasmodial Constituents ofAbrus precatorius
Planta Medica, 2004A known isoflavanquinone, abruquinone B ( 1), and a new derivative, abruquinone G ( 2), were isolated from the aerial parts of Abrus precatorius. Chemical structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectral analyses. While 1 exhibited antitubercular, antiplasmodial and cytotoxic activities, compound 2 showed mild antiviral and cytotoxic ...

Alkaloids of Abrus precatorius
Phytochemistry, 1971Two new alkaloids, viz., methyl ester of N,N-dimethyltryptophan metho cation (I) and precatorine (II), were isolated from the seeds of Abrus precatorius L. (Leguminosae Lotoideae). In addition, abrine, hypaphorine, and two previously uncharacterized bases, now identified as choline and trigonelline (III), were isolated from the seeds.

Lipids from the Seeds of Abrus precatorius
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1968The lipids obtained from Abrus precatorius were separated into a saponifiable and unsaponifiable fraction. Analysis of the saponifiable fraction by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) showed the presence of a series of C-8 to C-24 saturated and C-16 to C-24 unsaturated acids.

Chemical Tests For Seeds of Abrus precatorius and Ormosia
Journal of the Forensic Science Society, 1971Microscopically similar seeds of Abrus precatorius and Ormosia (Leguminosae) can be distinguished by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) in several systems on account of their content of indoles and alkaloids, respectively. N-methyltryptophan is a highly characteristic ingredient of A. precatorius .
