Alkaloids of Abrus precatorius

Phytochemistry, 1971
Two new alkaloids, viz., methyl ester of N,N-dimethyltryptophan metho cation (I) and precatorine (II), were isolated from the seeds of Abrus precatorius L. (Leguminosae Lotoideae). In addition, abrine, hypaphorine, and two previously uncharacterized bases, now identified as choline and trigonelline (III), were isolated from the seeds.
